Are you seeing the results you want or are you just spinning your wheels
This is a question I get all the time.
“I’m not getting results like I thought I would, what am I doing wrong?”
Well let’s assess some things.
Number one thing to consider is what exactly are your goals.
Are you working out to lose weight?
Are you working out to gain muscle?
Are you working out simply because it’s good for your mental health?
If your goal is to lose weight or gain muscle and you’ve been doing the same thing for a long period of time with no results you have to ask yourself, have I been consistent and honest with myself? If your nutrition is on point Monday thru Thursday but on Friday, Saturday and Sunday you are eating everything you can find and drinking on top of it, this isn’t going to work for you. Really be honest with yourself on whether or not you are really sticking to your plan.
Are you focused in your workouts? When you do a workout you can’t pick the weights that are comfortable to you and breeze through 10-12 reps then move to the next exercise. You need to be picking a weight that is challenging enough to where those last 2 reps are HARD.
Are you following a specific program? You need to pick a program that is 4-6 weeks long. For example, you will do the same back and biceps workout for 4-6 weeks, once a week to be able to increase weight, reps or tempo to build muscle and strength. Progressive overload is key not only for building muscle but burning fat.
Do you have accountability? Do you struggle to get the motivation to do your workouts or discipline to stick with a program? FIND A BUDDY or a community (I know an amazing one, btw 😉) find someone that you can count on that you all can text back and forth to keep each other on track!
These are just a few tips of things that I personally see the most and honestly that I have had to assess for myself. When you find what works and you’re consistent, I promise you those results will follow.

Watt Street Gym would like to introduce you to our newest trainer, Colleen Hoar! Colleen is offering private reformer Pilates in our gym.
Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving anatomical alignment and flexibility. Pilates focuses on the concept of control, working to lift against gravity using the resistance of springs or ropes and pulleys on a sliding surface, isolating and strengthening your muscles and connective tissue.
Colleen was finding herself beaten up from her workouts and training from CrossFit, Triathlons, Zumba, and various classes and found pilates in her search for a workout that energizes, strengthens and is least likely to lead to injury. After her first session she said to herself, "I could do this everyday for the rest of my life". She is certified in STOTT Pilates, Body Blade and is working toward her Neuro Exercise Certification to successfully blend the functional neurology of pain relief and performance enhancement.

Monday, Memorial Day, Watt Street Gym is hosting a MODIFIED MURPH at 7am! Come join us 🔴⚪️🔵
Memorial Day is quickly approaching and that means, it’s almost time for the MURPH Challenge! This year Watt Street Gym will be hosting the challenge and bringing you TWO opportunities to do it!
If you are not familiar with the MURPH Challenge, it is a hero WOD created by the CrossFit family. It is named after Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in the line of duty in 2005. Every year thousands of people come together and complete the MURPH Challenge to honor and remember him and many other fallen soldiers. (And get a killer workout too, if we might add)
Join us on Saturday, May 29th at 10:30 am OR Monday, May 31st at 7 am (modifications will be offered at this class)
Read more about Lt. Michael Murphy here.

Watt Street’s PowerFit trainer, Shannon, wants to remind you STRETCH and tell you why it’s important.
After a strenuous weight training workout it’s important to take the time to stretch. During your workout your body produces latic acid, stretching will help prevent a build up of this latic acid which can make your muscles tired and sore.
Stretching also helps with flexibility and range of motion. When you stretch when your muscles are warm, it lengthens the muscle tissue. This helps with flexibility, range of motion and increased blood circulation.
Most importantly, stretching before and after a workout will help prevent injuries. When you have an increased range of motion and flexibility it will in turn decrease the resistance on your muscles.
Instead of making stretching an optional part of your workout, make it part of your training session. Set that time aside at the beginning and end of your workout to maximize the benefits of your weight training.
