BAT DAD RETURNS. 🦇

Apparently, word has gotten around the local bat community that CWFS is the place to be. 😂

Another tiny visitor turned up at school, which meant our resident Bat Dad was called back into action!

After a careful rescue, our Coyotes got another up-close look at one of our wildlife neighbors, including those tiny teeth and incredible wings. 🦇

Then our little visitor was safely relocated.

How deep can you go? 🌊

Our K–2 crew took the plunge into their year of ocean exploration with their ocean immersive experiences!

Last week, our youngest Coyotes explored tide pools, the Arctic Ocean, the Antarctic Ocean, coral reefs, and every ocean zone from the sunny surface all the way down to Challenger Deep.

They painted coral reefs, investigated life at the poles, discovered what happens as sunlight disappears beneath the waves, and even became part of the largest migration on Earth! Our K–2 Coyotes imagined themselves as ocean creatures making their daily journey from the Midnight Zone toward the surface and back to the deep again. 🐟

That’s a whole lot of ocean for one week, and we’re just getting started! 🐙🌊

Sometimes the best lessons aren’t on the lesson plan. 🦇

We had a surprise visitor at CWFS today! Luckily, we had just the person to help!

Our resident “Bat Dad” (and real-life bat specialist!) gave students an impromptu lesson about our tiny visitor’s anatomy and some of the special features that make bats such fascinating animals.

Then our bat neighbor was safely rehomed.

As a Green Ribbon, pollinator-friendly school, we love opportunities to help our students understand that sharing our environment means learning about, and coexisting with, the wildlife around us. 💚🦇

Three grade bands. Three big adventures. One incredible first day. 💙

We officially kicked off a new school year today!

🌊 Our K–2 learners are diving into the oceans
🚀 Our 3-5 learners are heading into space
🏴‍☠️ And our middle school academy students are setting sail with pirates

From magic playdough and marshmallow constellations to collaborative space art and a full-size pirate ship, our students wasted no time jumping into the learning, creating, and community-building that will carry them through the year.

We are so happy to have our Coyotes back. Here’s to a year of curiosity, adventure, and learning together! 💙

What a way to wrap up the school year! ☀️💙

From classroom clean-up and shaving cream tables to Field Day fun, classroom plays, and sweet treats from our FTO, these final days were filled with laughter, teamwork, movement, and memories.

As we head into summer, we are grateful for a year of learning, growth, curiosity, and community. Thank you to our students, families, staff, and families for helping make this school year so special.
