🌟 Introducing the APS Rising Stars Middle School Recognition Program! 🌟

We are thrilled to launch a brand-new initiative celebrating the outstanding character, leadership, and resilience of our 8th-grade students across Albuquerque Public Schools!

Driven by our strategic plan, APS Rising Stars honors one 8th grade representative from each middle school who goes above and beyond—demonstrating kindness, perseverance, and a positive impact on their school community.

Selected students, along with their families and school leaders, will be celebrated at our inaugural recognition luncheon on December 11th at the UNM SUB Ballroom! 🎓✨

📢 Middle School Staff: Nominations are officially live! Check with your school leadership to submit your school’s nominee before September 25th.

Grant Opportunities Are Here!

Do you have an innovative idea that could make a difference for students? The APS Education Foundation is now accepting applications from APS employees for General Grants, Learning & Leadership Grants, and Student Choice Grants for field trips and school gardens!

Last year, Dennis Chavez Elementary received nearly $16,000 to support its Garden of Belonging, just one example of the creative, meaningful projects made possible through Foundation funding.

We can't wait to see what inspiring ideas APS educators bring forward this year!

📚 Building a culture of reading, one page at a time!

Thanks to grant funding, Hayes Middle School launched the “Our School Reads” initiative to foster a true love for reading and boost student literacy! 📖✨

Throughout the school year, students took on monthly reading challenges and tracked their progress with a “Passport to Adventure.” To celebrate their dedication and hard work, students who completed the challenge earned an exciting end-of-year field trip to Urban Air Adventure Park! 🧗‍♂️🎉

We are so proud of these young readers for building confidence, strengthening their skills, and showing that reading for fun pays off! 🚀

While our 1st–12th graders kicked off a fantastic school year last Friday, today officially completes the puzzle as we welcome our littlest learners—our Pre-K and Kindergarten students—for their very first day!
