๐ โMine is beautiful!โ
And honestly? We couldnโt agree more.
Sometimes the most important thing a child creates isnโt the artwork itself. Itโs the confidence to look at something they made and say, โI did that, and itโs beautiful.โ
These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do. Watching children take pride in their ideas, express themselves freely, and believe in their own abilities is truly priceless. The paint will wash away and the paper may fade, but the confidence they build lasts so much longer.
Today, one little artist reminded us that every masterpiece starts with believing in yourself. ๐จโจ

๐๐ A Wave Goodbye: Our Under the Sea Graduation ๐ ๐
What a magical day celebrating our NM PreK graduates!
This year, our Under the Sea Graduation was inspired by a very special experience. Our class attended a live performance of The Pout Pout Fish at Popejoy Hall, which sparked a love of fish, the ocean, and the many wonders that live beneath the waves. What began as a field trip quickly grew into months of curiosity, exploration, and learning.
Our graduates amazed us by performing in English, Korean, Spanish, and Turkish. How smart are they?! ๐โจ Their confidence, creativity, and love of learning were on full display.
During our celebration, we enjoyed student performances, watched our end of the year montage and reflected on so many sweet memories from throughout the year, proudly handed out diplomas, explored our beautiful art walk showcasing the childrenโs work, and finished the day with outdoor fun and celebration with family and friends. ๐๐จโ๏ธ
PreK graduation is one of our most cherished traditions at East Gate Kids. Many of these children started with us as babies in our infant rooms, and we have had the incredible privilege of watching them grow into kind, curious, capable young learners. Seeing them walk across the stage is always a reminder of just how much they have grown.
To our graduates and their families, thank you for letting us be part of this journey. We are so proud of each and every one of these children and cannot wait to see all the amazing things they will do next. ๐
Congratulations, Class of 2026! The future is bright, and we know you are ready to make waves. ๐โจ
Today brought countless giggles and a little bit of wonder to our garden. ๐โจ
Thanks to a thoughtful donation from someone in our church community, our students had the magical experience of releasing ladybugs into our garden. Together, we learned why ladybugs are important helpers in nature and how they support healthy gardens by protecting plants.
Tiny wings, curious minds, and joyful laughter filled the air as we watched them crawl, explore, and fly away. Childhood is full of small moments that leave big memories, and today was one of them. โค๏ธ๐ฟ

๐ฟโจ The Importance of Knot Tying in Early Childhood โจ๐ฟ
Something as simple as ribbons tied to a tree can hold incredible opportunities for learning. In early childhood, art is not just about creating something beautiful. It is about building brains, strengthening hands, and giving children ways to express the hundred languages of childhood.
As children tie knots, loop ribbons, pull, twist, and create, they are developing:
๐จ Creativity and self expression
๐๏ธ Fine motor strength needed for writing and self help skills
๐ง Problem solving and critical thinking
๐ Focus and persistence
๐ค Collaboration and communication with peers
Knot tying especially supports hand coordination, finger strength, and spatial awareness in a meaningful, hands on way. Children learn through doing, exploring, and revisiting ideas.
In a Reggio inspired environment, even a tree can become a canvas, a provocation, and a place for wonder. ๐ณโจ Childhood learning lives in moments like these.
A special shout out to our incredible atelierista, Mrs. Katie, for helping create meaningful invitations to explore, create, and wonder. The beauty of childhood lives in thoughtful spaces like these. ๐โจ
In the Reggio Emilia approach, we often speak about โprovocationsโ, thoughtfully designed invitations that spark curiosity, creativity, investigation, and wonder โจ
Our Sunflower classroom recently transformed their cozy corner into an immersive provocation using layered papers, projected light, and open ended art materials. What began as a simple space quickly became a place for storytelling, experimentation, movement, shadow exploration, and artistic expression.
Rather than telling children what to create or how to use the space, the environment itself invites questions:
โWhat happens if I move the light?โ
โHow does the paper change the shadows?โ
โWhat can this become?โ
These moments may look simple, but they are filled with deep learning, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking ๐ป
We are so proud of the intentional and inspiring environments being created throughout our school.
Wonderful to see the Reggio Philosophy being recognized and supported by Princess Catherine.
