Most of the time I ignore mean people. But not today. I believe in writers. I believe the craft can be learned.Since putting the workshop online, I dabbled into placing some Facebook ads to get the word out. But I must admit, I wasn't prepared for the trolls, or as mentioned-- mean people. One particular person said: "I just wanted to see what nonsense you are peddling". I know I shouldn't let it bother me. But it did. I was defensive-- not for me-- but for this workshop. And that's because it has stood the test of time-- 26 years under Jerry Cleaver, 14 under me. 40 years!!! Think about that. It's helped numerous writers like me get published. I've worked hard, not only as a writer but as a writing coach. I know what problems you have because I've faced them all over and over. I still face them. I'll face them until the day I die. But I learn, and I grow, and I get better. And I love it. I started out not being able to finish a novel and not knowing why. Now I write two and a half works a year. So what nonsense am I peddling? Well this was me before the workshop: I couldn't finish anything. I'd start off excited and then run the story into a ditch and then start a new project. I was a voracious reader and had a background as an actress which eventually helped but not until I understood story craft. I had no idea what I need to do to pull off writing a novel. (Or a play, screenplay, memoir). Taking this workshop literally changed my life. So what nonsense am I peddling?
