Professora Souza Gabriela. | CPT, NC & Professor 🥋

Promoted to Black Belt in May 2026 after an incredible double-gold 🥇🥇performance at the IBJJF Campeonato Brasileiro 🇧🇷(Brazilian Nationals), Professora Gabriela quickly followed it by winning American Nationals 🇺🇸 Gi as a new black belt, just weeks into her Black Belt journey.

Her resume includes 35 IBJJF medals, 20 golds 🥇, multiple Gi and No-Gi Open Class titles, and major podium finishes at Pans, World Master, and Masters International.

Gabriela has trained under Master Daniel Souza from White Belt through Black Belt, representing Carlson Gracie Team throughout her journey.

Beyond the medals is a story of resilience. A domestic violence survivor, Gabriela rebuilt her life while raising and homeschooling her children, working full time, helping manage the academy, coaching, and continuing to compete at the highest levels.

For the last year, our team has been laser-focused on IBJJF National, International, and World Championships. 🌎🏆

But there’s something special about showing up at home. ❤️

For the 10th year in a row, our academy competed at NAGA—one of the largest and most professionally run tournaments we’ve had here in Albuquerque.

Our Kids & Teens team was small but MIGHTY this year, bringing home the 🥇 1st Place Overall Kids & Teens Team Trophy! 💪🏼🔥

And our adults SHOWED UP. We brought just 5 adult competitors and came home with:

🥇 6 Gold
🥈 7 Silver
🥉 1 Bronze

We couldn’t be prouder of our team. 🫶🏼

But what we’re most proud of isn’t what’s hanging around her neck.

Today she’s one of our kids’ coaches, mentoring the next generation with patience, kindness, and leadership far beyond her years. She leads by example, works hard, and represents Carlson Gracie Albuquerque with humility and class every single day.

Happy 17th Birthday, Coach Sarah. Watching you grow into the young lady you are today has been one of our greatest blessings. We can’t wait to see what this next year brings.

Diva has been training with us since she was 9 years old, and it’s been an honor to watch her grow.

Her IBJJF accomplishments include:

She has also won multiple championship gold medals across other Jiu-Jitsu organizations, proving she can perform no matter the ruleset.
