Bright Mind's goal is to remain open for parents who are essential at this time, however, the safety of children and staff is of utmost importance. The following Department of Health procedures are going to be put in place to reduce risk. Thank you for your understanding and feel free to call or email with any questions. Some of these policies are already in action, however we are going to be more strict about coming inside our inner door. We understand that this is new, strange, and uncomfortable for everyone.
1. Parents are not to enter the building except in emergency.
2. Please bring and use your own pen to sign child in.
3. We cannot conduct tours at this time.
4. Children’s temperatures are to be taken prior to entering the building and again at 12:00 pm.
5. Children and staff with a temperature at or over 99.5° may not enter the building.
6. Children and staff who have experienced fever or respiratory symptoms must have a doctor’s note to return after 14 days.
7. All staff/adults must wear masks while in the building and while within 6 feet of others.
8. Children and staff must wash hands with soap on entering.

We welcome phone calls to speak with your child's teacher after pick up or drop off, but the goal is to do drop off as quickly as possible and to limit the number of people who enter the building. If there is a positive COVID-19 in the building all staff and children will be exposed and DOH will require that Bright Minds shut down potentially indefinitely, leaving essential workers with children unable to work.
Thank you for your understanding. Please stay home if you or your child are sick. We love your families, stay safe and well.
Child Care is considered an essential service during the COVID19 emergency. Bright Minds is available for to all first responders for emergency Child Care at this time. Please, wash your hands, stay home unless absolutely necessary, and encourage your family too do the same.
Bright Minds is open tomorrow as usual. If anyone in your household is sick, please keep your child home. Please wash your child's hands upon entering the building.
Bright Minds Academy- March 12, 2020
On March 11, 2020, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and Mayor Tim Keller suggested the closure of all childcare centers in the state of New Mexico and the city of Albuquerque. Current Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations are that people at increased risk of severe illness from coronavirus should take precautions such as avoiding crowds and stockpiling necessities. This group includes adults aged 60 and older and people with chronic health issues such as diabetes, heart disease and lung disease. Current evidence indicates that healthy children are NOT at increased risk for complications from coronavirus. It is also important to note that, globally, NO children under age 10 have died from this illness. Most critical illness cases have occurred in people well over the age of 60 with underlying health issues.
For the most part, thankfully, this does not describe the demographic we serve. Currently we have no cases of coronavirus or known contact with infected persons among staff or children at Bright Minds. I understand that we have families with family members who suffer from chronic health conditions and/or have elderly family members at home. If you fall into this category and feel unable to bring your child to Bright Minds, we will make special accommodations for your child’s absence until CDC recommendations change for these groups.
Child safety is our top priority; fortunately, this is an illness that seems to be relatively mild in the young. We are stepping up handwashing protocols along with increased disinfection of surfaces, bathrooms, bedding, toys, etc.
It is our position that to close Bright Minds at this point would severely impact our families. As the risk of coronavirus to young working families appears statistically minimal, we are planning to remain open unless the situation changes. Bright Minds does not intend to close its doors unless the CDC and NM Department of Health recommendations specify that we do so. We will be actively monitoring the situation and will keep you informed of any changes or new information as it becomes available.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns.
