What an incredible week at the University of New Mexico!
We were honored to welcome Suzuki Association of the Americas Teacher Trainers Trina Carey Hodgson and Edmund Sprunger to campus for a full week of Suzuki Violin and Cello Unit 1 teacher training. Their expertise, generosity, and decades of experience inspired teachers from across New Mexico and beyond as they explored the philosophy, pedagogy, and artistry of the Suzuki approach.
One of the highlights of the week was the opportunity for local young musicians and their families to participate in daily group classes led by Trina and Ed. These classes brought together students, parents, teacher trainees, and observers in a vibrant learning community where music, movement, listening, and joyful collaboration were on full display.
The week also included public masterclasses, presentations, observations, and countless conversations that strengthened connections among teachers, students, families, and the broader string community.
A heartfelt thank you to Trina and Ed for sharing their wisdom with us, to our teacher trainees for their dedication and enthusiasm, and to the many students and families who joined us throughout the week. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn together and look forward to continuing to grow a vibrant string community in New Mexico.
