2-Day Workshop, On Location

THE ARTIST'S SKETCHBOOK:
EXPLORING THE NATURE OF "SEEING" ON THE TRAILS
with Mary Beth Woiccak

On Location, in Tijeras area
September 12 - September 13
Saturday & Sunday, 9 AM - 1 PM

In this immersive outdoor 2-day workshop, you'll practice the art of "seeing", learning how artists observe patterns, textures, light, shapes, and relationships that often go unnoticed when we're simply passing through. Mary Beth will demonstrate ways to use the sketchbook as a working tool for exploring ideas, experimenting with visual approaches, and gathering material that can inspire future paintings and other artwork.

You'll use a limited selection of art materials to encourage resourcefulness, experimentation, and thoughtful choices. Working with less allows us to focus on looking closely, responding to what is in front of us, and discovering unexpected possibilities.

FREE Faculty Artist Demonstration Tomorrow!
with Dick Wimberly

Saturday, August 22, 5-7pm
THE DEMONSTRATION WILL BE HELD AT:
6500 Coors Blvd NW

Join artist Dick Wimberly for an engaging live painting demonstration exploring the art of simplifying and organizing the natural world into a compelling landscape composition.

Using solvent-free, safe oil painting practices, Dick will share his creative process of observing the environment around us and transforming complex scenic elements such as clouds, fields, homes, trees, and acequias into the essential shapes, forms, and details that create a visually pleasing painting.

During this demonstration, participants will gain insight into the process of editing a scene through initial pencil and marker sketches before watching the evolution of those ideas into a finished landscape painting. This is a unique opportunity to observe an artist’s approach, techniques, and creative decision-making in real time.

THE DEMONSTRATION WILL BE HELD AT:
6500 Coors Blvd NW

CLOSING THIS WEEKEND
"Roots & Routes"

This exhibition explores the ties that ground us and the paths that carry us forward. Whether reflecting on heritage, migration, cultural traditions, or personal journeys, artists have interpreted how identity is shaped by both where we come from and where we are going.
