👧🏻 This is the face of a proud little girl learning how to do a ponytail all by herself! Swipe to see her first attempt ➡️➡️
Learning new skills takes time, patience, and lots of practice. It’s not always easy, and it’s not always going to turn out how you want, but developing new skills is always worth it!
Self development looks a lot different as an adult than it did when I was a kid. But no matter what new skill I’m learning and improving, the sense of pride and accomplishment feels the same. 👊
What new skill are you working on right now? And if you’re not working on one right now, what’s something you’d like to learn?

This has been the most unconventional spring we’ve ever experienced, and now we’re moving into summer! ☀️
I don’t know about you, but this week is our kids’ last week of online school before summer break!
It’s weird because not too much will actually be changing when school ends, aside from no more virtual daily classes for my kids and a little more freedom in our schedule.
So lately, I’ve been thinking about how I can make this summer special for us, even though we won’t be doing many of the things that normally make our summer special — swimming lessons, pool days, park lunches with friends, play dates, family reunions, etc.
My goal for this summer is to make lots of memories as a family. We plan to go camping a lot, have picnics together, do some projects together, and just enjoy each having a slow-paced summer together.
How do you plan to make this summer special for your family? ❤️

I did a poll in my stories a couple days ago, and 76% of you said that you’ve already received the stimulus money in your bank account! 🎉
We haven’t decided how to spend ours yet...
Adam (half) jokingly suggested we buy a hot tub with it. 😍
But, realistically we’ll probably put it toward some repairs for our rental properties. 🏠
I want to know... What are you planning to do with yours??? 💰

No more excuses...
What stuff have you been putting off that you have time for now??

🏫 I remember sitting in an economics class in high school, and my teacher was explaining the power of starting to invest early. 💵
He explained that because of compounding interest, TIME is your best friend when it comes to growing your money. The sooner you start, the more your money is able to grow. 🌱
So ask yourself: are you losing money by not saving NOW for your future? 💰
And if the answer is “yes,” what action will you take to change that? 💪 @ Albuquerque, New Mexico

Happy 2nd Diaversary to this little fighter!
In some ways, it’s hard to believe we’ve lived with diabetes for 2 years already, but in other ways, it’s hard to remember life without it.
If my math is right, in the past 2 years, Jude has had at least 1500 shots or finger pokes, and probably closer to 2000.
The first year was hard. I remember in the weeks after his diagnosis, he would tell me “Bad Mommy!” every time I had to pin him down to give him an insulin shot. He had a lot of big emotions, and so did I.
But I’m amazed at how much has changed since then. He’s happy, handling his diabetes amazingly, and is one tough kid. We love you, Jude! 💙

You know what really helps me get out of a funk when I’m struggling with stress, anxiety, or uncertainty?
Putting my mind to something hard, and making it happen.
Because of the unique circumstances we’re in right now, we all have opportunities that we never would’ve had without the crisis our world is facing. 🌎
Instead of focusing on our struggles, stresses, and uncertainties, what opportunities can YOU take advantage of right now? 💙

Sometimes when you’re quarantined, you wear your slippers night and day, inside and outside, because... why not???
And then this is what happens. 😂
And you still won’t take them off. 🤷🏻♀️

It’s hard to believe that only a few short (or reallllly long...) weeks ago, we were dropping kids off at school, getting together with friends, and going about our normal lives.
In this time of crisis, I’ve felt ALL the emotions, and sometimes all in the same day!
But one feeling that I’ve tried to cling to is the feeling of OPPORTUNITY.
The OPPORTUNITY to get closer as a family.
The OPPORTUNITY to slow down.
The OPPORTUNITY to spend time on things we’ve been “too busy” to do until now.
Did you know that during our last economic crisis in 2008, a wave of new startup companies emerged? Instagram, Uber, Venmo, Credit Karma, WhatsApp, Groupon, Pinterest, Square, Slack, and many more extremely successful companies were founded during that financial crisis!
Opportunity.
In the midst of all the uncertainty, fear, and worry, what opportunities do YOU see?
And what will you do to make those opportunities happen?
