🍂 Fall Fun Thursday! ☕🎃

Liz’s Preschool class is officially willing fall weather into existence—and honestly, we’re here for it! 😂🍁

Their adorable fall bulletin board says it all:

“Our class is PUMPKIN SPICE and everything NICE!” 🎃☕❤️

Complete with each child’s own little pumpkin-spice cup, this classroom is ready for crisp mornings, colorful leaves, sweaters, and all things fall.

Now if someone could just let Mother Nature know that Liz’s class is ready whenever she is! 🍂😉

🌟 Happy 7-Year Anniversary, Ms. Thandie! 🌟

On September 3rd, we’re celebrating 7 amazing years of Thandie being part of the La Luz family! 💛✨

As a Lead Teacher in our Older Toddler program, Thandie brings patience, warmth, and dedication to her classroom each day. Anyone who spends time with toddlers knows just how much energy, flexibility, and love it takes—and Thandie embraces all of it while helping her little learners become more confident and independent every day.

Over the past seven years, Thandie has grown right alongside La Luz, taking on new responsibilities and becoming an important part of our teaching team. Her commitment to her children, families, and coworkers is something we truly appreciate.

Thandie, thank you for 7 years of teaching, nurturing, encouraging, comforting, laughing, and making a difference in the lives of so many children. We are so grateful to have you as part of our La Luz family!

🎉 Happy 7-Year Workiversary, Ms. Thandie! 🌞💛

🚒 What We’re Learning Wednesday: Our Little Firefighters! 🔥

Looks like we have a whole crew ready to answer the call! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

Rebecca's Pre-K friends have been learning about firefighters and the important role they play in keeping our communities safe. And, of course, no lesson is complete without getting to imagine yourself in the job!

Activities like this are more than just adorable artwork. ❤️ As children learn about community helpers, they begin to understand how people work together to help others, while the coloring, cutting, and creating build fine motor skills and encourage creativity.

Judging by this crew, La Luz is VERY well protected! 😂🚒🔥

🏀 Tiny Hoopers Tuesday! 🏀

Last Friday, Andrea’s Infant class took to the court for a very serious game of basketball! 😂 From choosing the perfect “basketball” to carefully lining up their shots, these little athletes were giving it their all.

At this age, something as simple as putting a ball through a hoop is doing a whole lot behind the scenes—building hand-eye coordination, gross motor skills, balance, spatial awareness, and confidence. And, judging by these pictures, there may have been a little friendly competition involved too! 🏆😄

We’re not saying we have future basketball stars on our hands…but we’re also not not saying it. 😉🏀

🍎 Menu Monday — Hello, September! 🍂

We’re wrapping up August and heading into September with another tasty week from the La Luz kitchen! 🍽️

Today’s lunch is black bean quesadillas with mild salsa on the side, corn, fresh red apple slices, and milk. 🌮🌽🍎🥛 Simple, colorful, and definitely kid-approved!

There’s lots of variety coming up this week too — chicken nuggets & fries, meatloaf with mashed potatoes, five-cheese tortellini, and Frito pies are all on the menu.

We’re especially excited to welcome back a La Luz favorite Friday morning: our warm homemade banana bread! 🍌🍞

Here’s to full bellies and a great week ahead! ❤️

CORRECTION TO YESTERDAY’S POST!!

🎉 Tiny Humans, BIG Fun! 🎉

Karina’s Infant class discovered that sometimes the very best classroom activities are the simplest ones—a ball pit full of COLOR! 🔴🟡🟢🔵🟣

Yesterday, these three little friends were thoroughly enjoying themselves as they reached, grabbed, squeezed, tossed and explored all the different balls around them. And while it may look like pure fun (which it definitely was!), there’s a whole lot of learning happening in that pit, too!

Reaching and grasping builds fine and gross motor skills, the different colors and textures provide sensory exploration, and playing alongside friends helps our infants begin developing those very early social skills.

Who knew a tub full of plastic balls could be such serious business? 😂

Judging by this picture, we think the ball pit is going to be a VERY popular spot in Karina’s classroom this year! ❤️

🎶 Move, Groove & Learn Thursday! 🎶

Joslyn’s Young Toddler class got their morning started with lots of music, movement, and smiles! During circle time, the children explored musical instruments, danced with colorful scarves, and moved their bodies to the music. 🥁🎵💃

Music and movement are so much more than just fun for toddlers. Dancing, shaking instruments, waving scarves, and following along with songs help develop gross and fine motor skills, coordination, rhythm, listening skills, language, and self-expression. It’s also a wonderful way for little ones to release some energy and experience the joy of doing something together.

Judging by all that movement, this crew definitely understood the assignment! ❤️
