Congratulations to our outstanding students honored at the Student Annual Awards yesterday! Every department and interdisciplinary program selects one student from each class annually to be honored for their hard work demonstrated through research activity, coursework, volunteerism, involvement in SoE, and more! This year's class of recipients included students of all ages from around the world (from New Mexico to Nepal). From expert guitarists to working parents, each student's story offered insights into what it means to be a Lobo Engineer at the state's flagship university!

Inside a University of New Mexico research lab, a novel propulsion engine operates at extremely high frequencies, promising to deliver a new avenue for clean energy — but first, researchers have to find materials that can survive its extreme conditions.

Assistant Professor George Koutsakis of The University of New Mexico Department of Mechanical Engineering will lead a $1.6 million grant from the U.S. Office of Naval Research (ONR) in collaboration with Purdue University to develop and study 3D-printed ceramic materials that can withstand high-frequency propulsion.
