Shaping the future of AI at UNM

The UNM Artificial Intelligence (AI) Steering Committee, responsible for examining issues around integration of AI across UNM’s academic and administrative domains, is inviting staff to share impressions, opinions, sentiments, and experiences regarding AI and Generative AI tools.
Take the UNM AI Staff survey here: https://unm.qualtrics.com/jfe6/form/SV_1FIeYDFl8u6iK5E

Survey closes: August 14, 2026
The survey takes about 5–10 minutes. Your responses are anonymous and will inform institutional planning, support, and strategy around AI at UNM.

UNM's approach to AI is guided by three core principles:
• Human-Centered AI — AI at UNM will serve people first. Technology is a tool to enhance human potential, not replace human judgment, creativity, or relationships.
• Trust-Centered AI — UNM is committed to deploying AI in ways that are transparent, fair, secure, and respectful of privacy, intellectual property, and academic integrity.
• Sustainability — AI adoption at UNM will be pursued thoughtfully, with attention to long-term environmental, financial, and social sustainability.
These principles are reflected throughout this survey. Your input will help shape how UNM puts these principles into practice.

Thank you for helping shape the future of AI at UNM. This Fall, additional surveys will invite faculty and students to participate.

Parking and Transportation Services- Lets Do Lunch!

Parking & Transportation Services (PATS) is excited to partner with the UNM Staff Council for the “Let’s Do Lunch and Learn” series to share information about the University’s License Plate Recognition (LPR) Program and virtual parking permits.
As part of Phase 2 of the LPR rollout for Academic Year 2026–27, virtual permits will expand to faculty and staff parking zones and all remaining student parking zones, further simplifying the parking experience while supporting UNM 2040 Goal 4: Sustainability.
With LPR technology, your license plate becomes your permit, eliminating the need for physical decals and creating a more convenient, efficient, and sustainable parking system. Join us to learn more about this transition, what it means for permit holders, and how PATS is committed to transparency and responsible use of LPR technology.

"At UNM, your license plate is your permit. Just park and go - no decals, no hassle."
