Bilingo Bingo English/Spanish was designed for bilingual families, but one of the most meaningful aspects of the game is that it places Spanish and English on equal footing, emphasizing the value of knowing both languages. While the game is perfect for families at home, I also envision it being used by teachers in ESL classrooms - helping create an inclusive learning environment for multicultural students.

WHY I CREATED BILINGO BINGO BOARD GAME
When I immigrated to the United States as a teenager, I was placed into school right away, and there was a lot of pressure to learn English quickly. I wanted to learn this new language and appreciated the support of my ESL teachers, but I also felt deeply isolated. Suddenly, everything I knew, everything I could express, and much of who I was felt meaningless in this new wordless reality.

The school expressed support for bilingualism, but the “English only” expectations unintentionally silenced my home language and a piece of my identity along with it.

Both languages need to be visible, spoken, and celebrated in daily life for bilingualism to truly thrive - not just acknowledged on special occasions. That belief became the inspiration behind Bilingo Bingo, the multilingual board game series.

This newest addition, Bilingo Bingo English/Spanish, was designed for bilingual families, but one of the most meaningful aspects of the game is that it places Spanish and English on equal footing, emphasizing the value of knowing both languages. While the game is perfect for families at home, I also envision it being used by teachers in ESL classrooms - helping create the kind of inclusive learning environment I wish I had experienced in high school.
