Good afternoon Zuni Technology & Communication Magnet School Families,

Please DO NOT use the parking lot to drop off your children. This is a parking lot and is not designed as a drop off location. Please keep this in mind for the safety of your children. The drop off is located on the south side of the campus with an entrance on Phoenix and Exit on Arizona.

Coming up on Tuesday, August 22nd we will have our Annual Title I Meeting at 5:30 pm with pizza, salad and drinks followed by the Zuni Open House. We look forward to sharing information about how funds are used to support student learning, how you can get more involved and then all about your child’s classroom.

Don’t forget that each Friday is Zuni Spirit shirt day. I look forward to seeing all of our Eagles showing their school pride. Wednesday August 30th will be Super Hero Day. Come dressed to support your favorite superhero or as your favorite superhero.

There is no school on Friday, September 1st and Monday and Tuesday September 4th and 5th. Classes will resume for students on Wednesday, September 6th.

Here are a few safety reminders. During the first 4 weeks of school we must do safety drills. We will do 1 per week. 2 will be fire drills, 1 will be shelter in place and one will be an evacuation drill. We do these drills to practice in case of an emergency. Should there ever be a real emergency, please visit the APS website for information.

If you are exiting the campus in the mornings or after visiting during the day and exit through one of the black ALICE Security Gates, please make sure that it closes and is secured after leaving. Do Not Block them open for any reason. These are there to keep your children safe. Please help us do that by making sure they are closed.

Welcome back to the 2023-2024 school year. I can’t believe we are only a week away from the first day of school. I hope you all have had an amazing summer and got lots of rest.

We have not received registration for all of our students. Please make sure that you login to ParentVUE to complete the registration process. You will need to provide Proof of Residence in the form of a PNM/NM Gas Company Bill or Lease agreement. All new students or incoming PreK/Kinder students will also need Birth Certificates and Shot Records. If you have questions or are having difficulties, please contact the Zuni office at 505-881-8313.

We will have Meet-the-Teacher on Wednesday, August 2nd from 2-2:30 pm. We will be posting class lists at 2 pm. We look forward to seeing you there. This is a good opportunity to drop off school supplies.

Thursday, August 3rd is the first day of classes from Grades 1-5. Remember we have new school start and end times this year. The first bell will ring at 7:30 am and the Tardy Bell will ring at 7:33 am. Students should not be on campus before 7:10 am when we have adult supervision. Breakfast will begin at that same time and is free for all students. Classes will release each day at 2:30 pm. Please make sure to plan accordingly to pick your child up at that time or make arrangements for daycare. Zuni does partner with RGEC to provide care here at Zuni after school.

Monday, August 7th will be the first day of classes for preschool and kindergarten students. The same hours apply to our kindergarten students. Start and end times of 7:30 am and 2:30 pm. Preschool will start at the same time but will release at 2:00 pm.

Exciting News: The Zuni Garden will be a reality in the very near future!! As we prepare for students, teachers and staff to begin working in the garden, we would like to invite all who can make it, to celebrate our beginnings and intentions. We will acknowledge our role as stewards, recognize the life within this space and welcome this garden as a future learning environment for all. Please join us for a short presentation in the garden area (between the main building and the portables) on Wednesday, September 7th immediately after school dismissal.

Good morning Zuni Families. Meet the teacher will be tomorrow. Grades 3-5 will be at 1:30 and grades PreK-2 will be at 230. We will have the class lists posted in the hallway.

Good Afternoon Zuni Families. We have been getting a lot of calls about school supplies. We have basic list on the Zuni webpage (zuni.aps.edu). We will also get them posted on here. Please know that teachers have not returned yet and may update them or request certain items that they will need in their classroom at the beginning of the year. We do request that school supplies are labeled with your students name. If you need help obtaining school supplies, please give us a call in the office.

Good Afternoon families, we cannot wait to see all your faces again. Please remember to upload all documentation for your students to Parentvue. We will not be accepting paper documents anymore. If you are having trouble uploading, contact the office staff and we will help you! Hope you had a wonderful summer.

Good morning Zuni Families! Tomorrow Friday September 4th will be our first monthly supply pick up. Please go through parent pick up between 1230-230. Thank you to Costco and the Imperial Sovereign Court of New Mexico for donating the amazing backpacks and supplies for our students.

You will no longer need meal tickets to pick up lunches for children under 18. Please remember that next week, meal pick up will be on Tuesday September 8th due to the holiday on Monday.
