Beau Murphy, UNM graduate student in the Archaeology subfield, has been awarded a Latin American & Iberian Institute () PhD Fellowship to support his dissertation research using GIS analyses and architectural chronology to investigate the Inka Empire's strategic use of settlement layout and political architecture at their provincial outpost of Turi in northern Chile's Atacama Desert.
