OCALS OCALS Learning Services - Providing Literacy Services to the families of Orleans County. Some never had the opportunity to attend school regularly.

There are many people in Orleans County who speak and understand English, but cannot read or write. The reading and writing skills of some of these individuals are so inadequate that their limited literacy is a problem in their everyday lives. Others find their reading and writing abilities insufficient for the demands of this changing world. Whatever the cause of their illiteracy, OCALS needs you

r help in teaching these individuals to read and write. OCALS recruits and trains tutors to teach Basic Literacy or English as a Second Language skills to individuals who want to learn to read, write, or improve basic literacy skills. We provide goal-oriented tutoring to these individuals, enabling them to achieve personal goals through literacy. This tutoring is provided one-to-one or in small groups, at no charge to the student.
