Lincoln Center 6th grade students had the opportunity to meet with former Albia High School graduate Nick Baker, Director of Field Operations for the New York Mets!

Students learned how math, science, and English/communication skills all play an important role in preparing the field, maintaining the playing surface, and making repairs throughout the season. Who knew there was so much work happening behind the scenes to prepare for one of the Mets’ 86 home games?

We are so thankful that Nick took time out of his busy schedule to come back home and share his career and expertise with our students! It was a great reminder that the skills students are learning in the classroom can lead to some pretty amazing careers. ⚾

On Monday, October 9, Albia FFA Intro to Ag students attended Greenhand Fire Up at Twin Cedars! 🌱

District and State FFA officers led four interactive workshops for first-year high school FFA members, also known as Greenhands, as part of the annual Greenhand Fire Up Conference. The workshops focused on leadership development and experiences relevant to students beginning their high school journeys.

A total of 405 FFA members from 29 chapters attended the conference.

Yesterday, October 7, Albia FFA and FCCLA teamed up to prepare and deliver meals to local farmers in the field! 🚜

Each meal included a hot beef sundae, roll, cookie, and water. The meals were delivered in reusable bags donated by Iowa Corn, which also provided first aid kits for Monroe County agricultural producers.

Albia FFA and FCCLA members delivered more than 100 meals to local farmers! Members set up at Smith Fertilizer & Grain and delivered meals directly to farmers working in the fields.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success!
