Laurel Academy Early Learning Center

Nothing stops us from having the most FUN!!!

We went on a scavenger hunt (yes, they made their own binoculars, fancy fancy!!) during our foggy walk this morning! The kiddos thoroughly enjoy every bit of it 🌾🌳🌻🐜🚸🐦

Thanks Miss Julie for this fun idea!
Irish you a lucky weekend ☘

Who doesn't love FUN games that can be played ALL day long!? Yup, that's us!!!

My preschoolers and I were too busy laughing, exploring with science, challenging our growing minds with unique games and keeping active daily.
This week had us engaged in some serious FUN St. Patty's day projects and activities!!!
If anyone knows how to rewind life, let us know, because WOWZA we had some extreme fun... always do 😊

[05/08/21]   And we are lucky to have the best ones!! 💕 Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! 🍎

1. They are not daycare workers, they are daycare teachers. Their lesson plan every day includes: how to share, how to have “nice hands” and “walking feet,” how to say please and thank you, how to walk behind someone without pushing, how to take turns, and how to have “listening ears.”

2. They are not just teachers. They are also janitors and nurses. They make boo-boos feel better and dry up tears. They spray, wipe, sanitize, sweep, mop, vacuum, and take out the trash.

3. They are waitresses. They balance little trays and cups of milk. They pick up squashed peas off the floor. Scoop peaches when they ask for more.

4. They change 5 dirty diapers, within 10 minutes, the day after beef and corn.

5. They get 12 little ducklings to follow in a row on their way to the playground.

6. They tie tiny shoes. Snap tiny pants. Fold tiny blankeys. Wipe tiny noses. Spend 5 minutes fixing the heels of tiny Converse. Multiply all of this by 12 on some days.

7. They are there before parents go to work and-or don’t go home until the last kid is picked up as the second hand ticks to closing time.

8. They lay out cots and pillows and blankeys and paci’s. They know who gets a pacifier, who gets a 6 oz bottle, who has to have all the lights out, who will wake up early, who came in late and will lay awake. They sit between cots patting restless toddlers to sleep. They spend the rest of nap time keeping the one early riser from waking the 11 others.

9. They go home and take care of their own families and homes, or their own children. They somehow find time to rest their tired feet.

10. They are patient and kind. They are trustworthy. They do their best with no promise of rest. They don’t enjoy disciplining, but do it with love. Their heart swells to see your child grow and learn and smile and play. They laugh at the funny things the kids always say. Say thank you to your daycare teacher. They love your child❤️

[03/30/20]   Dear Parents,

I know many of you have already noticed a more empty parking lot, and have missed seeing some familiar faces. The COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on everyone. We have had to say good-bye to some amazing teachers in the past week, but are comforted in knowing it is only temporary! Our Laurel Academy family will be back together soon and we can’t wait to get back to normal.

Some of our staff have chosen to shelter-in-place for their health and safety, or the health and safety of their loved ones. We will miss you and see you soon!

We have had to make some incredibly heart-breaking (temporary) good-byes to others. We can’t wait to have you all back with us again!

To those teachers remaining on the “front line”, we hope you stay safe and healthy while continuing to care for these awesome families.

For all of the families that have been affected and keeping their kiddos at home, I hope you’re not going too stir crazy! May your sanity still be intact when this ends!

Ms. Nicole and Ms. Jeri will be taking the next two weeks to continue growing their baby bumps while Ms. Alyssa handles the chaos at school! If you have any questions, you can talk to her. But Nicole or myself are always available by phone or email if you need us!

Good luck to everyone in the coming weeks! We will miss you, we can’t wait to have our family back together, and we hope you all stay healthy and happy!

Nicole & Jeri

Hello Families,

Given the current circumstances, we understand many parents are worried about what they would do with their school-age children if schools remain closed. We were hoping to ease this burden by possibly offering school-age spots. Before we venture into the process of making those spots available, we thought we’d gage community interest.

It would be available to students in grades K-2 (5-8 year olds).

If you think your family would be interested, you can message us or give us a call. Again, this is just to gage interest, but if we were able to provide this for families, it would have to be first come first served due to the limited spaces we would have.

You can email [email protected], call 763-269-5003, or PM us via Facebook.

Stay healthy!

Fox 9

For any families that are curious, we are still encouraged to remain open and will do so for now.

He and Education Commissioner Mary Cathryn Ricker said keeping other childcare centers open is important to helping families navigate the K-12 closures.
