👋🏻 Hello Coyotes Athletes and Families

⚽️ The adapted soccer season is almost a month away and your coaching staff wanted to get out some new and important information out!

🤔 As a reminder, Adapted Athletics is a Minnesota State High School League sport and we MUST adhere to all the rules and qualifications. Please review the qualifications from the MSHSL below, to ensure your athlete qualifies. While we believe all athletes deserve to participate in an activity, this is not a special education sport, automatically qualifying all athletes. If your child does not qualify, please consider Special Olympics, this is an amazing way to get your athlete involved and we have many Coyotes who do this as well!

📋Please be sure your case manager at your school has current records of the qualifications stated below as your head coach will be asking for this information prior to practice starting.

⭐️ CI Division Qualifications:
*Students must have a diagnosed and documented cognitive impairment, defined by a full-scale IQ of 70 or below.

⭐️ Adapted Sport Athletes must have the ability to:
*Take direction
*Understand the Rules and Strategy of the Game
*Adhere to and apply the rules of safety that protect the individual player, team, and their competitors.
*From time to time, a student’s involvement may be inappropriate if they lack the ability to benefit from the program or if there are concerns about safety (this will be discussed privately with families as needed and fully refunded should the specific sport not be appropriate at the time).

❗️Your athlete must have an up to date physical on file before they can participate in practice. If this is not provided by the first day of practice, they will have to sit and watch. Please get this in!

🎉 New this year, due to our amazing increase of numbers (yes this is a good thing) AND our belief to remain a no-cut program, the Coyotes team will move to 9th-12th grade only. HOWEVER, if your 8th grader participated in a sport last year, they CAN play in that SPECIFIC sport this year. For example, if your athlete played only in softball as a 7th grader last season, they can only play that sport as an 8th grader this year. Please message us here privately for further clarification. Any new 7th graders or 8th graders to the program or sport cannot enroll.

👚 We will be putting out the clothing order BEFORE the season begins and it will close after our first week of practice, please watch here for the link

⚽️ Our first day of soccer practice will be Thursday Sept. 10th

📱 We will use sportsYOU app, same as we did for Softball, if you want the team soccer code early, please reply to the post and we will send it out to you- however if your child decides not to play or does not meet qualifications, we will kindly remove your access.

🚖 Last season we had too many issues with families not picking up their athletes on time or at all- this will not be tolerated moving forward. It is extremely scary for your athlete and disrespectful to coaches and other athletes. If you need help with rides, consider reaching out to other parents and always remain in contact with coaches. This is part of our parent expectations to allow your athlete to remain on the team. Further information will be shared at our parent meeting.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Parent meeting will be after practice on 9/10/26 starting at 4:35. Please have the app downloaded and review the files before the meeting.

We look forward to seeing you all again! Let’s go Coyotes 🐺🐺🐺

The MSHSL Adapted Athletics CI Division program is specifically intended for students with cognitive impairments who have medical clearance to compete in competitive athletics.

Congrats Coyotes on an amazing season! Though our season has come to a close, your coaches, families and fans are so pro...
