PLW Cohort 32 is underway...Hear from Dylan Vaeth.

Dylan is following in his brother’s footsteps at SVCC’s Power Line Worker Training School. His brother, Austin McCormick, graduated from SVCC’s PLW Training School and now works for Lee Electrical.

After working in another trade, Dylan was ready for a change. He enjoys heights and, inspired by his brother’s experience, decided to give power line work a try.

Dylan was surprised to find himself climbing on the very first day of training, but he quickly embraced the challenge. In fact, he loves that he’s already spending so much time in the air this early in the program!

Originally from New York, Sherman Myvett attends Southside Virginia Community College’s Power Line Worker Training School.

Sherman’s uncle, a lineman in New York, encouraged him to pursue a career in the power line industry so he could build a career and provide for his future family.

One of the things that surprised Sherman most about the training is how securely the climbing belt supports his weight. When his uncle first told him about it, Sherman said, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” After a couple of weeks in the program, Sherman is now a believer!
