This summer we are proudly continuing our pop tab collection for ❤️💛
Campers and staff will be collecting aluminum pop tabs from soda cans, soup cans, pet food cans, etc., to help support families with children receiving medical care right here in the capital region.🥫
The tabs might seem like a small gesture, but they make a big impact, providing meals, comfortable beds, and a “home away from home” for families during difficult times.🏡
We love seeing our campers light up when they add to the big collection receptacles!! Their small acts of kindness add up in big ways! ✨
Start saving your tabs! ♻️

There’s a reason summer camp memories stay with us for life.☀️
This article about summer camp in the ‘80s and ‘90s really resonated with us, especially the idea that camp remains one of the few places where kids can truly be immersed in real experiences, real friendships, and real independence.
At Academy Summer, we see it every day.
Campers spend their days moving, creating, exploring, competing, laughing, solving problems, building confidence, and connecting face-to-face with peers and mentors. From sports and swimming to robotics, arts, enrichment, outdoor play, and specialty programs, their schedules are intentionally designed to keep them engaged, active, and present.
And something amazing happens when kids are fully engaged in the world around them:
they open up socially, gain independence, try new things, and build confidence naturally.
In a world filled with constant digital distractions, summer camp gives children something increasingly rare - the chance to just be kids.
That’s what summer should feel like. ❤️
Summer Camp in the ’80s and ’90s Was the Last Great Screen-Free Childhood Experience - AOL
Nobody called it a “digital detox” in the 1980s and 1990s. For those kids, camp was a continuation of everyday life, but more concentrated, social, and demanding.
