A recent NCCRS evaluation brought our team to the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (NYSDOCCS) Training Academy in Albany, where evaluators reviewed 13 courses for the revalidation of previous college credit recommendations.

NYSDOCCS has been an NCCRS member organization since 1978, reflecting a longstanding commitment to high-quality workforce training.

We appreciate the opportunity to continue working with NYSDOCCS in support of learners and educational pathways.

NCCRS was in New York City this week conducting an evaluation of training offered by a new member organization, the New York City Department of Correction.

Yesterday, we shared the exciting news that NCCRS will be presenting at the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) Conference this November in Pittsburgh. Today, we're pleased to announce we'll be taking part in a second conference session!

NCCRS: More Than 50 Years Serving Higher Education has been selected as an interactive roundtable session. On November 4, NCCRS Director Lisa Mahoney will explore the history and evolution of NCCRS, discuss its role in serving higher education for more than five decades, and lead attendees through a mock review experience.

We're honored to have two sessions featured at this year's CAEL Conference and look forward to connecting with colleagues to share ideas and best practices surrounding credit for prior learning.

We're pleased to share NCCRS has been selected to present at the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) Conference taking place in November in Pittsburgh.

On November 5, NCCRS Director Lisa Mahoney will moderate a panel discussion, Recognition of Externally Evaluated Learning: A Component to Boost Scalability. The session will explore how third-party academic evaluations can help colleges and universities expand and strengthen credit for prior learning (CPL) programs by improving efficiency, capacity, and scalability.

Joining Lisa on the panel will be Jeanette Capel of City Year, Simon Hauger of Workshop U, Alyssa Vine of The City University of New York, and an additional higher education panelist to be announced.

We look forward to joining colleagues from across higher education to discuss practical strategies and resources for scaling high-quality CPL opportunities.

NCCRS has published the latest edition of our newsletter, NCCRS News. The July 2026 issue features articles on new member organization, City Year, announcing NCCRS credit recommendations for their service programs, NCCRS director Lisa Mahoney's attendance at the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers' annual conference, and NCCRS member organization, the International Training Institute (ITI), receiving funding from Google to support skilled trades training.

Our director, Lisa Mahoney (left), recently visited Tiernan Walsh, chief partnerships officer, and the team at The Marcy Lab School in New York City.

NCCRS extends its appreciation to Deputy Chief Kevin Ramdayal for his leadership and guidance during this week’s on-site review of FDNY EMS training programs.

Thanks to his extensive experience, deep knowledge of EMS education, and commitment to excellence, several EMT and Paramedic courses received significant increases in credit recommendations. His expertise continues to be an invaluable asset to FDNY and its training initiatives.

Today, NCCRS conducted a successful evaluation visit for the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) at the Fort Totten EMS Training Academy.

Coordinated by NCCRS Assistant Director Nancy Szakats, the review featured presentations by FDNY personnel highlighting a range of leadership, instructional, and emergency service training programs for the benefit of the evaluation team.
