We invite you to join the UAlbany Communication Department's Proseminar this Friday, 9/18 at 3:45pm for a guest lecture by David Oliveros, MPH, who is the Associate Director for International Research, Section of Infectious Diseases, Department of Internal Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine.
His lecture is titled "Introduction to nominal group technique: A rapid mixed-methods research approach". This lecture will introduce Nominal Group Technique (NGT) as a structured mixed-methods research strategy for generating, discussing, and prioritizing ideas through group consensus. We will review its core procedures, methodological strengths and limitations, and its applicability across a range of research and decision-making contexts. Real-world examples will be used to illustrate how NGT can support stakeholder engagement, identify key priorities, and translate group perspectives into actionable insights across disciplines.
Proseminar is the Communication Department's monthly meeting for graduate students to present, discuss, and learn more about research. The guest lecture is from 3:45-4:30pm on Zoom. David Oliveros, MPH, is an Associate Director for International Research at the Altice Lab of the Yale School of Medicine, where he oversees multi-country NIH-funded studies focused on stigma reduction and integrated care models for HIV and substance use. His research focuses on strategies to optimize the care continuums for HIV and opioid use disorder, particularly across Latin America, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia, using mixed-methods and implementation science approaches to identify service gaps and strengthen care delivery for key populations.
