NADSP's Kathy Brown along with the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities Commissioner, Willow Baer, had the honor to attend a unique graduation/celebration at AHRC Nassau, recognizing 12 amazing high school seniors. Congratulations to the students of Bellmore-Merrick CHSD who graduated the DSP Pathways program through AHRC Nassau! A photo from the event is below.

Through the DSP Pathways program, the high school students gained important skills and real-world experience for rewarding careers supporting people with developmental disabilities. Kathy shared, “These fantastic students completed the course, interned on the job, and earned their NADSP DSP I certifications. The NADSP is proud to have participated in this collaboration and is looking forward to future opportunities for high school students.”

NADSP Policy Update: CMS Medicaid Work Rules Will Punish the People They Claim to Protect - NADSP 06/04/2026

NADSP Policy Update: On Monday, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued an interim final rule implementing new Medicaid work requirements under H.R. 1, the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

In reality, requiring people to prove 80 hours per month of work, volunteering, or training is a bureaucratic nightmare that threatens millions of families.
