HELP PUT YOUNG MUSICIANS ON THE STAGE AT THE EGG! 🎹

The Capital Jazz Collective (Supt. Hochreiter and music teachers Anthony Berman and Rob Lindquist) is playing for a pretty special reason tonight!

Albany High School’s Jazzmanian Devils have an incredible opportunity: on September 26, these student-musicians will take the stage at The Egg and open for Grammy-winning Steep Canyon Rangers

That’s the kind of experience a young musician never forgets.

Capital Jazz Collective will be performing tonight (Sept. 18) at New Scotland Spirits from 6-9pm Proceeds will help support these students and their opportunity to experience — and perform — live music on a professional stage. Come join us!

The last week of "Hunger Doesn't Take a Summer Vacation" was sponsored by National Grid. Their staff didn't hesitate to roll up their sleeves and dig in (after calling 811, of course), packing bags full of onions, bananas, potatoes, and fruit cocktail cups, along with the staples - peanut butter and jelly, beef ravioli - and bread and sweets from our friends at Bimbo Bakeries USA. Albany High SRO Nick Schuler and the Albany High School Do Gooders Club also lent a much needed hand.

Thank you to the Regional Food Bank, our community sponsors, school staff, and the hundreds of volunteers who made this possible. Together, you fed almost 500 students for 8 weeks, providing them with more than 60,000 pounds of food! Also, a huge thank you to the CSDA Maintenance Dept for their assistance, and to Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School for hosting us this summer. See you next year!

Whew! Trying to catch up on our social media posts as the first day of school comes closer and closer... Our sponsor for the seventh week of "Hunger Doesn't Take a Summer Vacation" sponsor was one of our favorite community partners - the University at Albany!

Volunteers from U Albany's Office of Government and Community Relations packed bags full of plums, bread, tuna, mayo, spaghetti and sauce - and much more! U Albany volunteers were also joined by a great crew of volunteers from APSUE - the Albany Public School United Employees union.

Thank you CDPHP for helping us to nourish Albany students this summer! A wonderful crew of CDPHP volunteers packed weekend food bags for 485 students full of delicious and nutritious food - including whole pineapples (!), provided by our friends at the Regional Food Bank. Thank you as well to Alias Coffee for ensuring that our students get produce every week by picking up from the Food Bank on the weeks we don't get deliveries!

We are so grateful to last week's "Hunger Doesn't Take a Summer Vacation" sponsor - Broadview Federal Credit Union! Our Broadview volunteers were so busy packing tomatoes, zucchinis, and oranges - along with the makings for baked ziti - pasta, tomato sauce, and shredded mozzarella cheese - that we weren't able to capture as many photos as we usually do! Broadview Federal Credit Union 's support allowed us to purchase delicious and nutritious food for 485 students in the City School District of Albany.

The "Hunger Doesn't Take a Summer Vacation" program wouldn't be possible without the support of hundreds of volunteers - and our weekly business sponsors! Thank you to last week's sponsor, KeyBank , for the great energy you brought to packing weekend food bags for *485* City School District of Albany students and families. Bags included fresh corn on the cob, black beans, rice, cereal, corn muffin mix, canned tomatoes and peaches, along with a bottle of dish soap.

Many thanks to our friends from Harding Mazzotti, LLP for sponsoring last week's "Hunger Doesn't Take a Summer Vacation" program. Harding Mazzotti volunteers bagged tomatoes, counted cans, and made sure that 485 Albany students wouldn't go hungry over the weekend! They had great assistance from a group of visiting teens from Blessed Trinity Parish and volunteers from Black Child Development Institute Albany! It truly takes a village, and our village is the best!

Thank you to MVP Health Care for ensuring that Albany students have healthy food to eat by sponsoring last week's "Hunger Doesn't Take a Summer Vacation" program!

MVP's support provided 485 students with weekend food bags stuffed with nutritious and delicious items such as potatoes, cherries, nectarines, greek yogurt, bread, rice, and beans. And toilet paper? Yes, toilet paper! Including household necessities like toilet paper in the bags saves money for families so that they can cover other important needs like food and medicine.
