On May 20, 2026, a special graduation ceremony was held in the Dougherty County Jail Courtroom to celebrate the accomplishments of Adult Education students Terrance White and Antrell Baxtrom. Their achievement is a testament to the power of education, determination, and second chances.
Education has the ability to transform lives, and these graduates have demonstrated that no obstacle is too great when you are committed to reaching your goals. Earning a High School Equivalency is an important step toward greater opportunities in employment, continued education, and personal growth.
Pictured are graduates Terrance White and Antrell Baxtrom, along with Adult Education Instructor Benjamin Johnson, Sheriff Terron Hayes, and Corporal ShaKera Foster, both valued community partners who support our students through the Jail to Jobs initiative and their commitment to providing opportunities for success.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office and our community partners for their continued support in helping students build brighter futures through education.
Congratulations, Terrance and Antrell! We are proud of your accomplishment and look forward to all that lies ahead.

Community partnerships make a difference! 💙🎓
Albany Technical College Adult Education is grateful to receive a generous $1,500 donation from Terrell County Family Connection to help support our GED students by covering testing fees.
This donation is especially meaningful because some students, despite being academically prepared and ready to earn their credentials, face financial barriers that make it difficult to pay for the GED test. By helping cover these costs, Terrell County Family Connection is removing obstacles and creating opportunities for students to achieve their educational and career goals.
Pictured are Amanda Farley, Director of Terrell County Family Connection, and Kevin Pless, Adult Education Instructional Coordinator, who accepted the donation on behalf of Albany Technical College Adult Education.
We sincerely appreciate Terrell County Family Connection for their continued support, generosity, and commitment to our students. Strong community partnerships like this help transform lives and strengthen our communities.
Thank you for investing in the success of Adult Education students! ✨

Last week, Adult Education Career Services Specialist Kristin Baer went on the road, visiting Adult Education sites throughout our surrounding counties to conduct workshops focused on test-taking tips and GED subject-specific strategies. 📚✏️
As Career Services Specialist, Kristin plays a vital role in helping students prepare not only for their GED exams, but also for life after graduation. She works with students to explore career options, identify their strengths and interests, develop educational and employment plans, prepare résumés, practice interview skills, and connect with training and workforce opportunities. Her goal is to help students move from earning their credential to building a successful future.
Through these workshops, students gained valuable tools and confidence to tackle each section of the GED exam while learning strategies to improve their testing performance and reduce test anxiety.
Whether you’re preparing for your GED, exploring career pathways, or planning your next step after graduation, Kristin is here to help guide you along the way!
🎯 Current Adult Education students who need assistance choosing a career path or planning for their future are encouraged to connect with Kristin Baer.

A proud moment for Albany Technical College Adult Education! 🎓✨
Our graduates walked across the stage, marking a major milestone in their educational journeys this past Friday. Career Plus students earned their high school diplomas, while our Adult Education students achieved their High School Equivalency.
Each step across that stage represents determination, resilience, and a commitment to a brighter future. These accomplishments open doors to college, careers, and new opportunities—and we couldn’t be more proud!
We also want to acknowledge and celebrate those graduates who were not able to walk on Friday—you are just as important, and your accomplishments deserve to be recognized and celebrated. 💙
Congratulations to all of our graduates—your hard work has paid off, and this is only the beginning!

Celebrating excellence at Honors Day! 🎓✨
We were proud to recognize our incredible students for their hard work, dedication, and academic achievement as they earned their Georgia High School Equivalency diplomas. Each graduate honored represents perseverance, commitment, and the courage to keep going.
Students were recognized with honor distinctions based on their GED (and HiSET) scores. No matter the distinction, every student we celebrated has overcome obstacles and achieved something meaningful. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you!

From the Director’s Desk ✨
Over the past two days, the Adult Education Director, alongside the Adult Education leadership team, participated in Strategic Planning sessions. This time was dedicated to reflecting, refocusing, and realigning goals to better serve students and the community.
What does this mean for the department? It means continued growth, innovation, and a strengthened commitment to student success. The team is working to enhance programs, refine their vision, and ensure every student has the support needed to succeed.
Exciting things are ahead—stay tuned! 💼📚
