Albany Technical College Adult Education is proud to celebrate 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗯 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗧𝗖 𝗚𝗘𝗗 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿!

Our Adult Education fiscal year began 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, and runs through 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟯𝟬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳, making Caleb our very first GED graduate of the year—a milestone worth celebrating!

Caleb didn't stop there—he also completed our 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗜𝗘𝗧) 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝗰 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 program and is now taking the next step by transitioning into the 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 at Albany Technical College.

Caleb is an all-around great guy, a dedicated student, and a hard worker. His determination and positive attitude have set the stage for a bright future, and we couldn't be prouder of all he has accomplished.

Throughout her time with Adult Education, Dwana has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and an unwavering commitment to student and program success. In her new role, she will continue to oversee critical operational functions while assuming expanded leadership responsibilities that will strengthen our department and enhance services for students and staff.

As Assistant Director, Dwana will provide leadership in student recruitment systems, learning management support, staff onboarding, student discipline coordination, scholarships and small grant administration.

Dwana's dedication, professionalism, and passion for Adult Education have made a lasting impact on our program, and we are excited to see her continue to grow in this leadership role.

FY27 Operations Meeting Update

Executive Director Shea Robinson Dancer recently attended the Georgia Office of Adult Education FY27 Operations Meeting in Savannah, where Adult Education leaders from across the state gathered to discuss priorities and expectations for the new fiscal year. Key topics included FY27 goals, grant and budget updates, maximizing program resources, student intake and retention, Workforce Pell, Integrated Education and Training (IET), and the statewide implementation of the LACES management information system.

The information and best practices shared during the meeting will help guide Albany Technical College Adult Education as the program continues to strengthen services, improve student outcomes, and expand workforce opportunities throughout the region. The Adult Education team is excited about the new fiscal year and looks forward to embracing the opportunities, expectations, and continued success that FY27 will bring.

The Albany Technical College Adult Education Department will be taking a brief transition break this summer beginning June 19 - July 10.

Albany Technical College Adult Education is grateful to receive a scholarship grant in the amount of $4,860 from Sumter EMC to assist students with GED testing fees in our service delivery area.

This generous support will help remove financial barriers for students who have worked hard to prepare for their GED exams but may struggle with the cost of testing. By investing in Adult Education, Sumter EMC is helping individuals achieve their educational goals, improve their employment opportunities, and build brighter futures for themselves and their families.

Community partnerships like this make a lasting impact, and we are thankful for Sumter EMC's commitment to education and workforce development.

On May 20, 2026, a special graduation ceremony was held in the Dougherty County Jail Courtroom to celebrate the accomplishments of Adult Education students Terrance White and Antrell Baxtrom. Their achievement is a testament to the power of education, determination, and second chances.

Education has the ability to transform lives, and these graduates have demonstrated that no obstacle is too great when you are committed to reaching your goals. Earning a High School Equivalency is an important step toward greater opportunities in employment, continued education, and personal growth.
