Sometimes conditions aren’t perfect to work out. But it’s not about the right conditions. It’s about consistency.

Carol has been one of the most consistent clients I’ve ever worked with in my 10 years and I’m continuously impressed.

She works hard, and always shows up early.

Carol has worked out 2-3 days a week with me and almost never misses a workout .

Recently, she took a fall on a weird surface and broke her elbow. She came into the studio to discuss a plan to keep her moving.

Since our small groups and semi private options stay small we’re able to keep her training through this process .

It’s been about two weeks since the break , and she’s back in, moving, and maintaining that almighty consistency.

We can see Teresa here doing a sprinter stance deadlift.

Before coming Teresa had:
✅ Never used weights before
✅ Was nervous of getting injured with weights
✅ Knew she needed to get stronger as she wanted to be an active grandma and business owner

With three days a week Teresa has become of the strongest people she knows. She regularly competes against her daughter in sessions and has been a dedicated member for over a year and a half.

Teresa came in open minded , and almost never misses a session!

Her strength continues to improve and her form is near perfect on all of her big lifts.

Way to go Teresa !

Tina is here doing a sprinter stance deadlift (before coming in she didn’t know what that was) . She knew she wanted to be stronger but wasn’t sure how to exercise with arthritis in her knees and issues in her lower back.

In our sessions it’s crucial she has good form, and progresses through more range of motion gradually.

Today she was excited about the new range of motion she felt when doing a child’s pose !

She aims for 3 days a week, comes in with a great attitude ready to learn, and is always open to feedback.

In this photo we bring the floor up to her instead of forcing her body to deadlift off the ground.

We take notes of that so next time she deadlifts we know to have the assist ready.

We also know not to constantly push her into heavier weights with this particular movement because we’ve learned how her body works.

Modifications aren’t “a step down“ . They are ways to keep improving, for an incredibly long period of time.

2-3 days a week of strength training with someone watching you can change your life.

Great job Tina ! Happy to see your new range of motion and strength gains and excited to see your continued progress !

I’ve known Tracy since the beginning of my training career (about 10 years ago).

Ever since she started strength training she’s always been motivated, curious, and fun to be around. Every session she brings a positive mood and always finds reasons TO work out.

Recently Tracy has had to work around arthritis, a shoulder injury from taking a fall, and traveling the world in retirement.

These things can be tricky to work around and stay consistent with but she’s managed to do it all with a smile on her face.

Recently we had a conversation on the phone and she told me how awesome it felt to do an adventure ropes course in the Adirondack’s with her family.

As you can see she’s clearly showing up the youngins!

Tracy is a great example of someone who doesn’t give herself the excuse to stop moving. Wether it’s our check ins during the session to see how her body is feeling, or getting back on track after being out of town, we’ve all been impressed by her ability to show up for herself over the years.

She works out with us two days a week in our small groups and she’s living her best life in retirement.

Movement is life, great job Tracy!

Emily originally came in wanting someone to watch her form, build strength, and lose weight.

She had tried large groups in the past but didn’t quite feel seen. She was nervous of getting injured, and really wanted to learn great form.

Over her time here we’ve had ongoing convos about going up in weights (and when not to) nutrition, protein, recovery, and what to do to stay consistent.

We’ve also talked about which muscle groups should be feeling which movement, why the speed of the lifts are important , and what to do with your workouts when you’re just exhausted.

Between being a mom, a wife, a daughter , and more it can be tough to stay on track. She’s been able to take control of her health with just two days a week.

Sometimes more and more isn’t the answer.

It’s 2-3 days a week of solid, focused, weight lifting.

✅ In the previous 4 weeks she took her split squat from 16kg- 20kg

✅ She couldn’t do any pushups when she started: today she did 7 on the floor with a 3 second pause at the bottom.

✅ Did her first ever pull-up that she showed off to her friends, of course

✅ Lost over 10 pounds but gained tons of strength

Fitness doesn’t have to take up your life to change your life.

Rethinking fitness

The internet wants to sell fast, unsustainable solutions .

People often fall into the trap of starting off strong, then burning out quickly.

Reframing fitness to be a long term, less intense approach will keep you fit and strong for your entire life.

You don’t need to know what your doing, you don’t need the right “motivation” and your not a failure for missing a workout.

Focus on consistency. A practice of showing up for yourself. And you can be fit your entire life.

Our group today can be seen her doing dead bugs for core!

A dead bug is a floor-based core exercise where you lie on your back with your arms pointing toward the ceiling and your hips and knees bent to 90 degrees. You slowly lower the opposite arm and leg toward the floor while keeping your lower back gently pressed into the ground, then alternate sides.

Benefits :

* Build core stability without repeatedly bending the spine like sit-ups.
* Teach the abdominal muscles to resist lower-back arching.
* Improve coordination between the upper and lower body.
* Strengthen the deep core muscles that support the spine and pelvis.
* Reinforce controlled breathing and rib-cage positioning.
* Carry over to lifting, walking, running and everyday tasks.
* Are easy to modify for beginners or people with sensitive backs.

Small Groups on purpose.

Our small groups allows us to:
✅ Answer all your movement questions
✅ Record what weights you use and any modifications every single session
✅ Your spot in class is always saved
✅ We know everyone name, and what’s going on in their body to make sure training stays personalized

The group here is seen doing a bear crawl hold.

Here are some benefits from just the one movement:

* Core strength: Trains your abs, obliques, and deep core to prevent your trunk from twisting or arching.

* Shoulder stability: Strengthens the muscles supporting the shoulder blades and rotator cuffs.

* Hip stability: Works the hip flexors, glutes, and muscles around the pelvis.

* Coordination: Teaches your upper and lower body to stabilize together.

* Wrist and arm strength: Builds tolerance through the hands, wrists, triceps, and chest.
