We are grateful for the cooler days and nights! We enjoyed a lovely spring day in the garden. The children planted tomatoes, peppers, zinnias and dahlias. They painted and planted herb pots to take home and enjoy fresh herbs with family members. Miss Amy taught the kids about composting and let them explore living compost critters. Yikes!
A couple friends enjoyed digging out a four foot w**d in the garden. It took alot of strength and cooperation to do it.
Sometimes the learning in the garden is more subtle and each kid is on his own path.
Best part of today! Our alumni Kenneth came by to volunteer today. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We had a fun time in the garden today. We read Jack in the Beanstalk and planted our own magic beans. ( make sure you water them kids!) We w**ded, we played garden bingo, turned compost and found some creepy crawly garden bugs. For snack Mrs Flower made a bean dip which was served with pea pods and green beans and Miss Sue brought us bean chips. ( Who knew? ) The kids devoured it. Kids will eat vegetables when served creatively.

The rain stayed away so we could be outside for garden club today. The kids designed their own gardens, planted seeds and potatoes, painted pots and enjoyed being out in nature today. Beautiful day!

Many many thanks to our friends who came out to help us with our annual clean up. We were able to accomplish so much with so many hands. Mark’s spirit was all around us today. With love.

Compost critters were on our minds today at garden club. The kids explored compost to see what creepy crawlers might live in there. They found centipedes, worms etc. They also observed red worms used in compost bins and helped create compost for our garden.
The kids enjoyed some delicious “dirt” for snack complete with worms! Yummy!
Thanks to all the wonderful adults who helped out today and to Amy for bringing the fun compost lessons.

Another VERY busy garden club!
The kids worked hard cleaning out old beds and shoveling new soil for spring planting. We also planted garlic, learned about trees and did some fun art projects. Always a great time experiencing hands on learning in the garden.

It’s a snake!
The kids were very excited to come across this sweet snake while preparing our gardens for tulips and garlic planting next week.
It’s great to see them learning through real experiences. Everyone had a chance to observe him then we returned him to a nice safe spot.

Today was all about birds! The kids learned how to observe closely and draw different types of birds. They also learned about different beaks and how they work, made “seed cards” and enjoyed some yummy blackberries and strawberries from our very own garden.

It was a great first day for our beautiful fall garden club! The kids made salsa Fresca from our wonderful tomatoes, created beautiful vases and harvested potatoes for next week’s mashed potato day! We love sharing time in the garden!
