Our interventions are eclectic. We are astute and creative in providing the particular type of support needed. By addressing all aspects of the problem, we create results that will be sustainable for you and your child and can be maintained on your own. Our Methodology
There are a number of specific methodologies from which we draw. The core of our work is both relational and behavioral. What this means is that we focus on changing behaviors through a consistent structure of rewards and consequences while simultaneously building solid and positive relationships. Below are the various methodologies Whole Child uses. Family Systems Approach views the entire family as one system. When any part of the systems is not functioning well, all of the parts are affected. Behaviorism is a system that encourages positive behaviors through consistent rewards and incentives, while discouraging other behaviors through consequences. In addition, behaviorism breaks down desired behavior into small, attainable, and observable steps to insure success. Cognitive Therapy focuses on how thoughts affect behavior and emotions. By changing maladaptive thoughts, behaviors and emotions also shift. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy techniques help teach emotion regulation skills. DBT emphasizes accepting the person as they are, while working toward change. Jungian Depth Perspective informs our understanding of how the unconscious is contributing to both the individual's and the family's dynamics. Personality Styles help to understand each person's values, strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. One-on-one coaching helps to increase each person's motivation for change and confidence.
