Happy Veterans Day! Thank you for your service and sacrifice. Meet junior social work major and retired Marine Corps Sergeant, Richard Webster. "Ever since I watched what happened on September 11, 2001, I have strived to serve this great nation."

You can find Richard studying in the ASU Military and Adult Education Lounge, and hanging out with other student veterans.

Today, we'd like you to meet Ashley Scott, another VA Work Study student in the Office of Military & Adult Education...

Ashley is a senior at Albany State University, majoring in psychology and minoring in addiction counseling, and she plans to attend graduate school in the near future. She is from Little Rock, Arkansas, but obtained her Associates degree in psychology from Darton State College.

Ashley enjoys serving as the President of PSI CHI, the International Honors Society in Psychology. She also likes conducting research, which she has done throughout her time at ASU.

Next up is Richard Webster, one of our VA work study students... if you've ever called or visited our office, I'm sure he's assisted you!

Richard has an Associate’s degree in General Studies from the University of Maryland University College and is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science & Social Work here at Albany State.

Richard grew up in Albany, graduated from Westover High School in 2011, and then spent five years in the Marine Corps, where he worked with the Wounded Warrior Battalion East in Maryland.

Richard is married, and he and his wife have two young sons.

While we're introducing folks, meet Brianne Laios (if you haven't already)...

Bri is the Director of Veteran Student Success here at Albany State University. She has a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and a Master of Science in Sport Administration, both from the Florida State University. She grew up in Florida, then spent seven years in Washington state, where she worked for the United States Army Recruiting Command, before landing in Georgia.

She's not married, and doesn't have any kids… but she's got the world's best dog, a Golden Retriever named Tate.

Meet Kristi Jones, our new Military Liaison! She been with Albany State University since 2016, when she started in the Admissions office. She then dabbled in the Office of the Registrar, and has since landed here, in the Office of Military & Adult Education. She received a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of West Georgia, and looks forward to serving as your School Certifying Official. Kristi has been married since 2017, and has a baby due any day now! She also has two dogs: Benelli, a chocolate lab, and Layla, a miniature dachshund. They are her world, so there's a good chance you may get shown a photo or two during your time together.
