Congratulations to our DCSS Elementary Choral Camp participants! 🎶

The week-long camp concluded on June 5, 2026, at Sherwood Acres Elementary School with an outstanding community concert. Students spent the week strengthening their vocal skills, building music literacy, and growing as young performers under the leadership of Mrs. Anita Clay Moody, Dr. Judith Thompson, and Mr. George Darrisaw Jr.

Thank you to our donors, families, and supporters for helping make this memorable experience possible. We look forward to Choral Camp 2027! 🎵

Our fabulous Sherwood faculty and staff enjoyed our annual SEL trip! This year we went to lunch at Jonah’s in Thomasville and enjoyed a nice afternoon in Tallahassee. What a wonderful way to end the school year with good food, fellowship, and shopping!

Innovation isn’t just a buzzword—it’s an action. The Dougherty County School held the Innovative Teacher Summit 2026: Innovation in Action – Lead the Spark Forward.

This regional half-day summit was designed to give you a front-row seat to the strategies shaping modern education. From leveraging AI to mastering bold instructional practices, educators walked away with a toolkit ready for immediate classroom impact. Educators from across the region shared an afternoon of innovation, AI, and impactful instructional strategies featuring keynote speaker Matt Miller, author of Ditch That Textbook.

We are so proud of our 3rd Grade Teacher Ms. Waiters who was a presenter during the Summit!!

📬🗺️ 3rd Grade Great Mail Race Challenge! 🗺️📬
Our amazing 3rd graders in Ms. Marlin’s and Ms. Waiters’s classes received an exciting end-of-the-year challenge that was simply too good to turn down — participating in the Great Mail Race! 🎉
Students also wrote letters to all 49 states, sharing information about Sherwood Acres Elementary School and Dougherty County, while learning about how to communicate with people across the country. 🇺🇸✉️
The Great Mail Race is an educational activity where students collect postcards and letters from as many cities and states across the United States as possible. When students return for the upcoming school year, they will enjoy opening their mail and learning about different communities, landmarks, traditions, and fun facts from places all across the country! 🌎📬
