# Needed: As summer approaches we are looking to reorganize our lab and "business model" if you can call it that. We will be reworking our office space to hold classes of up to 6 students. Doing this will allow us to hold our live classes with smaller class sizes and without having to rent hotel spaces and the cost and logistics associated with it. This will allow us to bring down the cost of our live classes. It will also allow us to hold more classes on different days of the week so parents don't have to choose between our class and another class that might be going on the same day. We will also be streamlining the logistics and communications for our zoom based classes.
As our class room will have a good amount of idle time, we will also be renting out the space at $10 an hour for extra revenue. (once it is ready) The room will have lab equipment such as microscopes, beakers, mag stirrer, etc. and audio visual equipment to run videos and powerpoints. This room can be used for anything, but the focus will be on providing resources for bio and chem activities. My question to parents is, what science resources or supplies are lacking, hard to come by or cost prohibitive in the home school community. We would like to be able to leverage economies of scale to provide different resources, lab activity supplies etc. complementary, at cost or as low a fee as possible for the classroom. Thanks for your feedback.

Algae always finds a way to take over almost every ecosystem. From antarctic to desert environments. also has a tendency to work together with many different and even become one with other species.

The cost is $49 per student. Pre-registration is required as there is a limit of 25 students per workshop. To learn more about the curriculum and register for tickets, please visit https://upstatealgaelaboratory.org/poughkeepsie We are using Eventbrite for efficient ticket management.
During the workshop, participants will engage in activities such as extracting DNA from samples, measuring photosynthesis rates, extracting photosynthetic pigments, and identifying algal species. The curriculum is designed for students with a basic understanding of biology, covering topics like cell structure, DNA, and photosynthesis.

Tutoring Research SciCom The workshop will be broken down into 4 sessions and each session will be about 20 minutes of lecture followed by a 20-30 minute hands on experiment. This workshop is geared towards upper middle school and high school age students, however, parents can judge by the session details below if their chi...

This species of algae is Dunaliella salina, a marine green algae we just got into the lab. Fun fact, many algae species can swim and eat. The group is more than just pond scum.
