Fall sports season is right around the corner for our student-athletes in grades 7-8!

Registration is currently open for modified football and will open for all other modified fall sports on Friday, July 31! Register via Final Forms.

Modified sports include football, boys' soccer, girls' soccer, boys' cross country, girls' cross country and volleyball.

The City School District of Albany Board of Education has appointed Daniel Sanchez Dania as Albany High School's new girls’ varsity soccer coach.

"Soccer has shaped so much of who I am, and I can’t wait to give these players the same opportunities to grow, compete and build lifelong memories," Sanchez Dania said.

"My goal is to create a culture centered on hard work, accountability and having fun while representing Albany with pride."

Students and families are cordially invited to a "meet and greet" with Dania Sanchez on Wednesday, July 29 at 7 p.m. hosted by Albany Athletics. This event will take place on the turf of the Albany High stadium.

The 2026-27 sports season is coming soon and registration is now officially open for all high school fall sports for the City School District of Albany!

Any student in grades 9-12 who is interested in trying out for football, cheerleading, boys' soccer, girls' soccer, boys' cross country, girls' cross country, girls' tennis, girls' swimming and diving or volleyball is invited to register via Final Forms.

Mark your calendars for Albany High School's Homecoming Weekend, which will take place Oct. 2-3!

We are counting the days until Albany High School's Homecoming Weekend, which will take place Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3!

Join us for a festive and fun weekend that will include home sports competitions, the City School District of Albany Hall of Fame 2026 Induction Ceremony, a parade, dance performances, a tailgate party, booths, a home football game and more!

All modified and high school student-athletes are encouraged to take part in the Homecoming parade and festivities on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Graduates and all district students, family members and employees are invited to join us for this joyful celebration, as well as community members.

Attention families of students in grades 7-12!

All student-athletes interested in trying out for a fall sport must have an up-to-date physical submitted to Final Forms in advance of the first day of tryouts and practices.

Families are encouraged to get a completed physical from their child's physician. If you are unable to get a physical from your child's physician, you can schedule a physical with Whitney Young's school-based health center by calling (518) 573-2556.

Appointments will be available at Albany High School in room 4253 during July on the following dates:

Thursday, July 16 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Tuesday, July 21 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Thursday, July 30 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
