Are you passionate about making a change in Albany County?
As the federally designated Community Action Agency serving Albany County, ACAP has provided services to thousands of low-income families and individuals living in Albany County with the intent of breaking barriers keeping them in poverty and creating opportunities for everyone to thrive. Our mission is to partner with families and communities to expand opportunities and build stronger networks to foster upward economic mobility.
ACAP’s 15-member board of directors provides leadership, ambassadorship, and vision benefiting the thousands of individuals served annually by the 130+ staff members ACAP employs. Our customer-focused services are provided through three main departments: Community & Career Services, Early Childhood Education, and Energy Services.
These services are designed to provide support for the whole family, from our Head Start program serving children under 5, to our Career Services program which helps adults thrive in sustainable careers, to the Weather Assistance programs which keeps customer’s homes safer and more comfortable while increasing their energy efficiency.
These programs, plus many more, all contribute to creating The Power of Change in the Albany County Community.
As a board member, your engagement entails:
· Attending meetings every other month;
· Committing to a three-year term;
· Participating in at least one board committee;
· Acting as an ambassador for ACAP and our programs;
· Networking to encourage opportunities supporting ACAP’s growth; and
· Providing leadership and guidance to help ACAP succeed in its goals.
