Day one - CSEA Retirees are in action at the AFSCME Retiree 46th Annual Council Meeting in Chicago, standing together to advocate for retirees and strengthen our collective voice.

About 100 members of CSEA Retiree Local 914 enjoyed a delicious luncheon at the Vernon Downs Hotel on August 6, 2026. The presentation "Stop the Scam" was presented by Barry Kaufman, President of the NYS Alliance of Retired Americans, educating members on how seniors can avoid scams, fraud, identity theft and other costly crimes.

Special guests included former CSEA Central Region 5 President Colleen Wheaton and CSEA Retiree Executive Committee Vice Chair Kathy Zabinski.

Members brought non-perishables items to be donated to the Canastota Food Pantry.

The next Retiree Local 914 meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 20th at Monarch Banquets in Yorkville. RSVP by 10/13/26.

That’s a wrap for the 2026 Retiree Delegates Meeting!

Each day was packed with workshops and conversations that brought valuable information about benefits accessible to all our retiree members and taught leaders more about getting the word out about what they do.

The knowledge and experience our retirees bring to CSEA continues to strengthen our union. Whether they're mentoring future leaders, working on campaigns, advocating for working members, or staying engaged in their communities, their dedication reminds us that union solidarity doesn't end with retirement.

Day 2 of the Retiree Delegate Meeting was a success! The day was packed full of informative workshops followed by an exciting closing session that honored some dedicated retirees and locals.
Congratulations to Kathy Zabinski from Region 5 who won the Donald Webster Memorial Mission Award, and to Region 1’s Rutha Bush for being named the Retiree PEOPLE Recruiter of the Year. Multiple locals were honored as Golden Locals for 50 years of service.
The Keynote Speaker was our very own New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, who provided an update on our pensions and thanked our division for their work in the recent primary.
