I have been working with Andrew Harrington, of Xeen Music, and he has been archiving music from all the games I was composer on at Sierra. The idea is to have the content mixed to the best listening experience for the player and, with the composer's intent, for each piece to sound at it's "MIDI optimum" so...he has mixed all of my work, SFX, music pieces, and really all of the cues from each game, by using the SC-55 Roland Sound Canvas, which was, at the time, (1991-97) the best MIDI sound source available. This was what all of the composers at Sierra wrote music for. Not the Sound Blaster or the Pro Audio sound card. To hear the compositions through these lack luster sound source systems just does not do the music or the games justice. This was the consensus of all of the composers that I worked amongst at Sierra during my time there. We all wanted the music experience to be the most consistent and most "like real" instruments. So..... here are a couple of links for my old pals to walk down "memory lane" (who are here in the group) and for the enjoyment (hopefully) of all the game music fans. I am posting a couple of main themes and a couple of music pieces that really "pop" when heard through the device that they were intended to be heard through. Hope it brings back some great memories for some of my old comrades and, all of the fans who didn't have a Sound Canvas to experience the games through at the time of their release. One of the very best exercises to do with another practice buddy is to learn the process of thinking faster than you play by calling the changes to another player as you are playing the changes yourself and then upping the ante by calling them as you play your solo. A band stand must for players who want to push forward to the next level. Enjoy and stay diligent. Practicing these skills REALLY pays off so share with a friend.

Here's "The Video Of The Week" and..... this will round out what all of us need to gain a concept of the guitar and, to access everything we need to be the player we want to be. If you look down the Time Line you should find, (among all of the lectures, tips, and axioms) the essential lessons from the Complete Method and E-Book "Guitar Mechanics". The 5 Scale Forms, The 5 Chord Forms, Travis or Stride Picking, Welcome to the Spelling B, And now How the Scale Forms Fit Together. This is the essence of the method and will take any intermediate or pro and turn him or her into a musical warrior. A virtual Musical T-Rex. The guitar won't be a mysterious and delightful, but undiscovered, instrument. It will be your best friend. You will be able to speak though it and express yourself with less effort than ever before these condensed exercises, and... you won't get lost or stuck anymore. This Connected Scales Exercise and the other 6 exercises will take you there even if you only put in 20-30 minutes a day. They are amazing and all guitar methods SHOULD be showing these fundamentals. Well, at least for now, I give you "Guitar Mechanics" to look to for the straight dope. Keep the faith and keep practicing. And be sure to be true to your school and love your family and friends. They're the ones who make this all worth while.

This is a "Video of the Week" and is a pivotal lesson for "Intermediate to Advanced Players" which means... this is for most of my pals who are playing gigs. I hope this helps you guys continue your growth in development and, allows you to become the player you want to be. This is a preview of the Blues Playing Section of the method and is essential if you want to get better at understanding the concepts of "substitution chords" and "passing chords"...NO CHARGE. I just wanted to share this in order to take the "thorn out of the paw" of some of my buddies who still struggle with relaxing into the performance of Blues material in their shows and, at jams. You have to get "your tone" and this "Video of the Week" explains how to define that for yourself. It's one of the most important parts of developing a "voice" on your instrument and this is true whether it's guitar or any other instrument including the actual voice that comes out of your mouth when you sing or speak.
