Student Spotlight: Future PTAs Mastering the Basics!

This week in the lab, they got hands-on with a crucial assessment skill: listening to heart and breath sounds. 🩺🫁 It’s amazing to see their focus and commitment as they prepare to provide comprehensive care.

Listening to heart and breath sounds is a crucial skill that enables PTAs to ensure patient safety during exercise, identify critical medical red flags, guide and evaluate cardiopulmonary treatments, and accurately report patient status to the supervising Physical Therapist. These students are well on their way to making a difference!

They recently hit a major milestone in the simulation center, successfully completing their uniform and head-to-toe assessment check-offs. From perfectly professional uniforms to demonstrating their clinical skills on high-fidelity manikins, these students are showing immense dedication to their craft.

Building clinical confidence takes focus, long hours, and a lot of hard work. We are so proud to watch them bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and hands-on practice.

It has been a busy summer semester so far in Dental Hygiene! Today our students went out to The International Studies Elementary Charter School to talk with the students in ESOL camp. The children learned about brushing, flossing & nutritional habits for good oral hygiene. A great time was had by all participants.

Albany State University (ASU) proudly announces the relaunch of its Presidential Scholars Program, a transformative, needs-based scholarship initiative set to begin in Fall 2026. Reimagined under the leadership of President Dr. Robert O. Scott, the program reflects a renewed institutional commitment to attracting high-achieving students, advancing academic excellence, and strengthening student success outcomes.

The program will competitively select students within a 3.25–4.0+ GPA range and recognizes achievement through a tiered scholarship structure, with annual awards ranging from $3,000 to $10,000.

Presidential Scholarship applications will open on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
