Today, historian Anthony Cohen and the Freedom Walkers team visited Roots Elementary School with the "Journey to Freedom" Harriet Tubman statue. Speaking to students, Cohen shared insights from Freedom Walk 2026, a monumental journey he is currently leading from May 4 through July 4 that retraces the historic Underground Railroad route from Maryland to Canada.

On Friday May 15, Roots Academy held its last Seed Day of the school year! Students had a fantastic time participating in a variety of hands-on activities throughout the day. Sessions included presentations on financial literacy, public speaking, and nutrition, alongside fun movement opportunities like karate, tennis, yoga, and music.

Kindergarteners at Roots celebrated today by connecting with nature! They enjoyed learning about the Earth and planting flowers, which they will water daily as they watch them grow.

Student wellbeing is at the forefront of everything we do at Roots. These areas are specifically designed to help students regulate their emotions and recharge.
