NSF REU grant awarded🎉
We're excited to share that the RNA Institute has been awarded the renewal of the NSF REU grant for the next 3 years!
We're proud to continue supporting undergraduate researchers and can't wait to welcome our fourth cohort of in just 4 weeks!
On day 2, trainees took the stage to present their research through Poster Lightning Talks, sharing exciting ideas and breakthroughs in just a few minutes.
Another inspiring day at the 2026 RNA symposium! From Keynote Talk followed by dynamic Invited and Trainee Talks, Day 2 continued to spotlight innovative research and engaging discussions.
A great start to the symposium! Today’s program featured Welcome Remarks, an inspiring Keynote Talk, and engaging Invited and Trainee Talks showcasing exciting research and ideas.

Selected Speaker 1: Dylan Ehrbar (University at Albany)
Dylan Ehrbar, a PhD Candidate in Begley Lab at at Albany, is our first selected
speaker at the 2026 Upstate NY RNA Symposium. Dylan’s talk will focus on Aging characterized
by significant shifts in tRNA modifications and codon usage bias and altered translation.

REU Spotlight: Meet Massa Masri, a 2025 REU in RNA trainee!
Massa conducted research in Dr. Andy Berglund’s Lab, with her final project titled “Spinocerebellar Ataxia 2 Whole Blood Transcriptomic Analysis Reveals Novel Immune Biomarkers and Widespread Mis-Splicing.” Massa graduated this past December and is working at St. Peter’s Hospital while applying to medical school.
