Successful international partnerships require many divisions of a university to come together, to develop and foster a new relationship with a visiting institution from overseas. Our senior leadership has long held a belief that
internationalization is a key pillar to the strength and success of University at Albany.
University at Albany came together last week to welcome Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka to have an open and informed discussion on what we can offer and share in a partnership. Kesh Kesavadas our VP for Research and Economic Development was able to take the lead in our discussions and articulate UAlbany as a global leader in , , and many other areas of shared interest with UTeM. Our partnership with the in Washington DC is key and opened this door for us to meet and host our visitors on campus.
Vice Chancellor (President) Massila Kamalrudin offered to host an ESports tournament for our students to compete against each other as we develop our relationship. Cooperative and engaged intentionaleducation was on display at its greatest as we develop partnerships in this engaged manner.

Welcome back! Mark Yang (UAlbany class of ‘92) and his family travelled from Taiwan, and had a chance to catch up with President Havidán Rodríguez, discussing many of the new campus buildings and improvements that have occurred over the last decade. He also toured campus and walked down memory lane, remembering fondly his undergrad days. Mark is a big supporter of and is also instrumental in helping us with our mission and outreach in .

Captivating discussions during UAlbanyInternationalAdmissions visits with embassy partners and NGOs in Washington, DC last week. We discussed international student enrollment opportunities at University at Albany. We were particularly excited to have a chance to meet with UAlbany Alum Ambassador Evangelos Savva (BA and MA Political Science) representing the Republic of Cyprus. Ambassador Savva was recently bestowed the Milk Excellence in Public Service Award by the UAlbany Alumni Association Association.
