Our second graders visited Normanskill Farm for a day of hands-on discovery! Students met cows, alpacas, and police horses, and even watched a master blacksmith at work. The interactive day included churning butter, examining aquatic life in the creek, and playing games to learn about bee pollination and predator-prey dynamics.

The red carpet was rolled out at Delaware Community School! Our kindergartners strutted their stuff in the second Annual ABC Fashion Show, rocking the runway to great music and even louder cheers from their classmates. Amazing job, everyone!

Students participated in a hands-on fruit pizza activity designed to support communication and language skills in a structured, engaging setting. During the activity, students practiced functional language by requesting items and labeling tools and ingredients.
The lesson focused on vocabulary development, as students identified and named materials such as cookies, frosting, strawberries, blueberries, and oranges, as well as tools like plates and utensils. Students also worked on following directions, completing multi-step tasks with teacher support.
Action steps were modeled by staff, and students demonstrated understanding by completing the actions as they were guided through the process.
In addition, the activity promoted social communication skills, including turn-taking, waiting, and participating alongside peers. The interactive and sensory-based nature of the activity supported engagement while reinforcing language use in a meaningful, real-world context. Thank you to Albany Fund For Education for providing the materials for this activity.
