AUE IS READY FOR AN AMAZING YEAR!

What a way to start the 2026–2027 school year! We’ve had two GREAT days at Albany Upper Elementary, and we are already so excited about what this year has in store!

Our AUE staff is an incredible group of educators who show up each day ready to teach, encourage, support, and love our Hornets. We are so thankful for every person pictured here and the important role they play in making AUE such a special place.

And leading the way is our Instructional Coach, Principal, and Assistant Principal—ready to support our students, staff, and families and make this one of our best years yet!

The smiles are big, the energy is high, and our Hornets are back where they belong!

Today’s spotlight features a wonderful group of educators and support staff who each play an important role in making Albany Upper Elementary a place where students feel welcomed, supported, and inspired every day. 🐝

✨ Mrs. Ashley Watson – Spanish & Art
Mrs. Watson is beginning her second year teaching Spanish at AUE and will also be sharing her love of creativity by teaching art to some of our third graders. With more than 10 years of teaching experience, she brings enthusiasm, knowledge, and a passion for helping students discover new languages and cultures.

✨ Mrs. Brighton Smith – 3rd Grade Teacher
Joining AUE for her first year, Mrs. Smith brings seven years of teaching experience and a heart for building meaningful relationships with students and families. We are excited to welcome her to our third-grade team!

✨ Mrs. Georgette Corbin – Paraprofessional
After serving AUE for eight years as a custodian, Mrs. Georgette is beginning an exciting new chapter as a special education paraprofessional. Her caring spirit and dedication to our school community will make her a wonderful support for our students.

✨ Mrs. Sandra Caldwell – Cafeteria Staff
Mrs. Sandra is excited for another school year filled with fun, laughter, and serving our Hornets with a smile. She is a valued member of our cafeteria team and helps make lunchtime a bright spot in every student’s day.

💛🍎 Meet the Smiling Faces Behind Our Cafeteria! 🍎💛

Every day, these incredible ladies work hard to prepare delicious meals, greet our students with a smile, and make lunchtime a positive part of the school day. We are so grateful for their dedication and can’t wait for another wonderful year serving our Hornets! 🐝

✨ Mrs. Jodie Clark – Cafeteria Manager
Stepping into her new role as Cafeteria Manager, Mrs. Jodie begins her ninth year at Albany. A proud Albany native, she is excited to lead our cafeteria team and continue serving our students with care and a smile.

✨ Mrs. Brittany Waskom – Cafeteria Production Manager
Beginning her second year at Albany and a new leadership role as Cafeteria Production Manager, Mrs. Brittany loves supporting students and cheering on her own children in all of their activities.

✨ Mrs. Kayla Bankston – Cafeteria Staff
This is Mrs. Kayla’s first full year in the cafeteria, and she’s excited to make lunchtime fun and welcoming for every student. She loves crafting, reading, and spending time with her family—including her six dogs!

✨ Mrs. Lynnette Glascock – Cafeteria Staff
With 23 years at Albany, Mrs. Lynnette has been serving generations of Hornets with love and care. She is excited to be back in the kitchen doing what she loves most—cooking for our amazing students.

Our Hornet family wouldn’t be complete without the incredible support staff who work behind the scenes and alongside our students every day. Today we’re excited to introduce three more amazing members of the AUE team! 🐝

✨ Mrs. Crystal Winstead – SDA Paraprofessional
Mrs. Crystal has several years of experience working with special needs students and loves watching them grow and succeed. She is passionate about helping children and enjoys spending her time cheering on her two sons at their sporting events.

✨ Mrs. Sevana Bowling – Custodian
Mrs. Sevana brings five years of custodial experience and a positive attitude to AUE. She is excited to get to know our staff and students and help keep our school looking its best each day. We’re so happy to welcome her to the Hornet family!

✨ Mrs. Crystal Thomas – SDA Paraprofessional
Beginning her second year at AUE, Mrs. Crystal is excited to continue building on everything she learned last year while supporting our students. She loves reading, spending time with her family, and is looking forward to another wonderful school year.
