Join us for our Juneteenth Celebration
Saturday, June 21 | 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
LBCC – Albany Campus

This free community event will feature cultural programming, food, games, and fellowship.

Our keynote speaker will also lead two specialized breakout sessions.

Both sessions will focus on evidence-based strategies to support Black student success and academic achievement, providing valuable professional development opportunities that align with our project’s mission.

Join the LBCC Community in Celebrating Dia de Mu***os!

We invite you to partake in the vibrant celebration of Dia de Mu***os, a meaningful cultural tradition that honors the lives of those who have come before us. From October 28 to November 4, experience the beautiful ofrendas—decorative altars filled with photographs, mementos, and elements representing earth, water, fire, and wind.

Event Details:

Ofrendas Locations: Equity Center, atriums of Chinook Hall, and Benton Center
Focus: Two ofrendas will highlight influential Latina and Latino leaders, while the other two serve as community spaces for LBCC students and staff to remember their loved ones.
Get Involved: LBCC students and staff are encouraged to contribute by loaning a picture or memento for the community ofrendas. You can drop off items at the Equity Center, Benton Center, and Chinook Hall

We had a successful Latino roots presentation with Dr. Lynn Stephen, where we learned about the rich cultural heritage and contributions of Latino communities in Oregon. The presentation highlighted personal stories and historical contexts, fostering a deeper understanding of our shared roots.

Dr. Stephen shared captivating anecdotes that illustrated the resilience and achievements of Latino individuals throughout Oregon's history. This event not only celebrated the cultural diversity of our region but also encouraged us to explore ways to honor and uplift Latino voices in our community moving forward.
