🐴 Sometimes the breakthrough isn't about doing MORE…it's about creating greater clarity.
Tesha Switzer came to me at a recent Liberty Clinic because she had been working on the laydown with her horse.
She'd already made some really good progress on her own…but they were stuck.
As I watched them work, I noticed something important.
When Tesha would ask, her horse would start dancing around—shuffling and moving his feet rather than staying in one place and working through the question.
And eventually, all of that dancing around would result in him finding some relief.
So from his perspective, moving his feet was working.
He simply didn't understand that dancing around wasn't the answer.
Before Tesha could progress to the actual laydown, she needed to establish clearer parameters around what she was asking.
It wasn't about adding a bunch more pressure.
It was about creating greater clarity.
We worked on helping him understand:
👉 Dancing around and moving your feet isn't the answer.
👉 Here are the parameters of what I'm asking.
👉 Stay within those parameters, search for the answer, and when you move in the right direction, you'll find the release.
Once those parameters became clearer, he had a much better opportunity to actually work through the question instead of dancing around it.
And this is where it gets REALLY cool…
Just THREE DAYS after the clinic, Tesha sent me this video.
🎉 THEY GOT THE LAYDOWN!! 🎉
This is such a great example of why, when we're stuck with our horses, doing MORE isn't always the answer.
Sometimes we're actually really close.
We just need to step back and ask:
“Does my horse truly understand the parameters of what I'm asking?”
Because greater clarity in our communication can completely change the conversation.
❤️ Huge congratulations to Tesha Switzer and her horse!
You took what we worked on at the clinic, went home and applied it…and just THREE DAYS later, you had your laydown!
Fantastic job, Tesha!! 👏🐴🎉
