Today’s orientation for Albany Tech students enrolled in the Early Childhood & Care Education program successfully provided an essential overview of key logistics, institutional policies, and foundational requirements. This initial session was designed to provide students with the necessary information and expectations before engaging in the standard curriculum and hands-on activities integral to their training. By establishing a clear understanding of program structure, attendance protocols, safety guidelines, and academic standards, the orientation ensures that all participants are well-equipped for a productive and professional educational experience moving forward.

A second orientation will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, June 9, for ECCE students at the Albany Tech Child Development Center, 2 p.m.

Albany Technical College and Georgia Southwestern State University signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on June 1, 2026, on the GSW campus in Americus.

The agreement marks a continued partnership between Albany Tech and GSW to create smoother pathways for students as they move through their educational journey, from technical education into expanded higher education opportunities.

Dr. Emmett L. Griswold, President of Albany Technical College, and Dr. Michelle R. Johnston, President of Georgia Southwestern State University, spoke about the shared responsibility both colleges have in supporting students, strengthening partnerships, and building a stronger workforce pipeline for Southwest Georgia and the state of Georgia.

This MOU is not a finish line - it is a starting line for deeper collaboration, stronger student support, and new opportunities for students to thrive.

Albany Technical College and the Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition Inc. have announced a new partnership that will expand educational opportunities for titleholders while highlighting the value of technical education, workforce development, and career readiness throughout Georgia.

Through the partnership, Albany Technical College will provide Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia's Teen with a scholarship covering one academic year of in-state tuition and mandatory fees, including both the Fall and Spring semesters. The partnership marks a significant milestone as Albany Technical College becomes the first and only technical college currently offering a dedicated scholarship opportunity to Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition Inc. titleholders.
