We're changing things up this year. Instead of a full week of daily events, we're giving all ATC students one action-packed day, 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟲, filled with campus resources, food, exciting competitions, and our highlight event - 𝑹𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏' 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒊𝒌𝒆: 𝑨𝒏 𝑴𝑱 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏. Be sure to stick around for our afternoon wind-down finale - a first-time ATC screening of Michael, the Michael Jackson biopic.

Whether you'll be ripping the runway in MJ-inspired fashion, showcasing your MJ-inspired artistic talent, or performing some of his greatest hits, this year's event will offer students the opportunity to engage, unwind, have fun, and compete with fellow Titans while showing off their talents.

Recently, Albany Tech had the privilege of hosting a campus tour for approximately 20 enthusiastic participants and chaperones from the 𝗕𝗼𝘆𝘀 & 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘆'𝘀 youth 𝗦𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺. While the group initially came to explore Albany Tech’s 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 program and our state-of-the-art 𝗘𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 center, they walked away with a wealth of knowledge thanks to the dedication of our Computer Information Systems (CIS) faculty and Mr. Kenneth Williams.

Mrs. Cassandra Henderson and Mrs. Gwendolyn Thomas provided the visitors with an inspiring overview of the evolution of technology and a comprehensive look into our 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 related programs. They highlighted our diverse academic pathways, including certificate, diploma, and associate degree options designed to prepare students for the modern workforce. The students were also treated to an engaging, interactive demonstration that included exciting news about our upcoming 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (AI) certificate program.

The impact of the visit was immediate. 𝗠𝗿. 𝗔𝘂𝗻𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘂𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻-𝗥𝗲𝗲𝗱, Lead, was so impressed by the caliber of information, the strength of our programs, and the Titan Cafe's exceptional customer service that he is already planning a return tour. The next visit will expand to highlight our LLC and Automotive Technology programs, with a special focus on the rapidly growing electric vehicle industry. We look forward to continuing this partnership and inspiring the next generation of technology leaders!

What a perfect way to end the semester!

A huge thank you to Hank Vinson Meat House for welcoming our Culinary Arts students and sharing the craftsmanship behind meat smoking, fabrication, and charcuterie. Your longstanding legacy in the Albany community made this an unforgettable learning experience.

Back in the lab, our students paired the specialty meats with artisan cheeses, homemade pickles they prepared weeks ago, and a variety of accompaniments to create beautiful charcuterie boards while exploring the art of flavor pairing.

A Practical Nurse Pinning Ceremony was held Tuesday, July 28, at the Phoebe Living and Learning Community.

A pinning ceremony is a time-honored tradition that symbolizes a student's official transition from learner to healthcare professional. It celebrates the successful completion of rigorous clinical training and academic requirements, marking their readiness to enter the field. While a traditional graduation confers degrees or diplomas, the pinning ceremony is a more intimate and symbolic rite of passage. The ceremony highlights the compassion, responsibility, and foundational knowledge required to ensure patient comfort. In addition to being pinned, students often recite an oath or pledge affirming their commitment to ethical practice, patient care, and professional excellence.

𝑮𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒓:
𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗔𝗧𝗖 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿, 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺
Mrs. Teresa Darity was born to Samuel H. Joyce and Susan E. Bryant in Suffolk, Virginia. She lived there until relocating to Albany, Georgia, in 1995. After graduating from Dougherty Comprehensive High School, she attended Albany State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. During this time, she also married her husband, with whom she has shared more than 20 years of marriage.

Mrs. Darity began her nursing career in June 2005 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Women's and Children's Services. While working full-time, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing in 2009. Although she transitioned into nursing education in 2011, she continues to serve her community through part-time nursing practice at Phoebe, maintaining her passion for patient care.

In December 2011, Mrs. Darity joined Albany Technical College as an instructor in the Evening Practical Nursing Program. Her dedication to student success and excellence in nursing education led her to become a faculty member in the college's newly established Associate of Science in Nursing Program. She has also taught in the Nurse Aide Program and now proudly serves as Chair of the Practical Nursing Program.

As Chair, Mrs. Darity has demonstrated exceptional leadership and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Under her guidance, the Practical Nursing Program achieved its initial accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) in 2021, a milestone that reflects the high standards she and her faculty uphold. She has also been instrumental in maintaining the program's reputation for excellence, helping it earn recognition as one of the top Practical Nursing programs in the state for several consecutive years.

Mrs. Darity is passionate about educating the next generation of nurses and believes in empowering students to recognize their potential, embrace lifelong learning, and provide compassionate, patient-centered care. She is deeply committed to mentoring future nurses and preparing graduates who will make meaningful contributions to the healthcare profession.

Above all, Mrs. Darity treasures her faith, her family, and the opportunity to serve others through both nursing and education. Her life's work reflects a commitment to excellence, service, and leadership—qualities that have inspired countless students who have walked through the doors of Albany Technical
College.

𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀, 𝗔𝗧𝗖 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿
Dr. Dominique Jones is a native of Bainbridge, Georgia, the daughter of Mr. Steven Jones and Mrs. Verlisa Moten, and the sister of six siblings. Dr. Jones is the proud mother of two children, DJ and Daylen. She graduated from Bainbridge High School in 2004 with a dual diploma and certification as a Certified Nursing
Assistant, which marked the beginning of her nursing journey. As a child, Dr. Jones dreamed of becoming a medical doctor; however, she soon realized she was called into the profession of nursing. Nursing is more than a career—it is a calling that blends the science of healthcare with the art of compassion. Nurses serve on the front lines of patient care, advocating for individuals, promoting and restoring health, and providing comfort during life’s most vulnerable moments. This calling inspired Dr. Jones to dedicate her life to nursing, where she continues to impact lives through service, leadership, and education. Immediately after completing high school, Dr. Jones enrolled at Bainbridge College and graduated in 2006 as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She later continued her education at Wallace Community College in Dothan, Alabama, where she earned her Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) in 2012. Dr. Jones went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2014, her Master of Science in Nursing Administration (MSN) in 2016, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2022, all from South University in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. Jones is a member of Priestly Praise Ministries in Bainbridge, Georgia, where Apostle Lee Lyons serves as pastor. She is also a business owner who provides educational resources and certifications for healthcare professionals. In addition, she founded a nonprofit organization called “Identity,” which is dedicated to mentoring and empowering young females between the ages of 10 and 21. Dr. Jones has been a nurse for 20 years and
considers it a true blessing to have her career and passion intertwined each day as she continues to serve, lead, and educate within the nursing profession. Guided by faith and a heart for service, Dr. Jones remains dedicated to using her gifts to impact lives, strengthen communities, and inspire future generations.

Albany Technical College Adult Education is proud to celebrate 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗯 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗧𝗖 𝗚𝗘𝗗 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿!

Our Adult Education fiscal year began 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, and runs through 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟯𝟬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳, making Caleb our very first GED graduate of the year—a milestone worth celebrating!

Caleb didn't stop there—he also completed our 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗜𝗘𝗧) 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝗰 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 program and is now taking the next step by transitioning into the 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 at Albany Technical College.

Caleb is an all-around great guy, a dedicated student, and a hard worker. His determination and positive attitude have set the stage for a bright future, and we couldn't be prouder of all he has accomplished.
