📚🐾🍎 The countdown is on, and Sterling is preparing for the start of the new school year this Tuesday! 🏫✨

He spent time getting back into the swing of things during staff meetings—practicing his "under" command, staying calm around shuffling chairs, and resting quietly while the adults talked strategy.

He can’t wait to welcome all of our students back and bring plenty of tail wags, comfort, and joy to the hallways! 💙

Sterling took his training on the road for a trip to Mackinaw City! 🌉✨

High-traffic tourist spots are filled with heavy foot traffic, appetizing smells, fudge shops, and busy sidewalks. It's the ultimate proving ground for practicing a solid "down-stay."

No matter how many people walked past, Sterling focused on holding his position, tuning out the noise, and staying completely settled. Building up this level of focus in crowded public places ensures that busy school hallways and lively events will be a breeze for him!

If you know Sterling, you know he is OBSESSED with his soccer ball. ⚽️👀

So, taking him to a youth soccer event was truly the ultimate test of his training! With balls rolling, kids running, and plenty of excitement on the field, Sterling had to work extra hard on his impulse control.

As you can see, he handled it like a total professional—staying settled, calm, and focused right on the sideline. Practicing self-control around his favorite distractions is how he learns to stay level-headed and ready for any busy environment at school!

Next, we will work on walking next to these same types of distractions without reacting!

Learning new things isn't always easy—just ask Sterling!

During a recent outing, Sterling discovered that while he loves the beach, he isn't quite sold on the waves just yet. 🌊😅

Even for a brave future facility dog, big moving water can be a little intimidating! But part of his Viking P.A.W.S. journey is learning how to face new, uncertain situations at his own pace. Instead of rushing in, Sterling practiced staying calm on the shore, watching the water roll in, and building up his confidence like a champ.

Just like our students working through new challenges in the classroom, Sterling is learning that it’s completely okay to take small steps when trying something new! 🎓💙

Happy National Friendship Day from Sterling & Hudson! 🐾❤️

Everyone needs a great buddy to hang out with! Today, for National Friendship Day, we’re giving a special shoutout to Sterling’s awesome friend, Hudson!

Training takes a lot of hard work, but playdates with Hudson make off-duty time so much fun. Whether they’re:
• Quietly hanging out in the kitchen watching the action
• Claiming the big bed together after a long day of playing
• Just sharing toys and catching up on their puppy gossip
..Hudson is the absolute best buddy Sterling could ask for!

True friendship makes every day brighter! Make sure you tell YOUR friends how grateful you are for them today! 🐾🦴

Sterling experienced his first big camping adventure! 🏕️✨

While trips like this are full of summer fun, for a facility dog in training, a campground is also the ultimate "classroom." From navigating new sights and smells to practicing polite behavior around bicycles, golf carts, and campfires, Sterling proved once again how amazing he is.

Exposing Sterling to unique environments like this helps ensure that no matter where his Viking P.A.W.S. duties take him, he’ll be calm, confident, and ready to support our students!

Sterling visited the groomer, and he is looking very dapper!

With all of his busy training days and community outings, it was time for a little summer cleanup. His fresh new trim has him feeling extra light, extra fluffy, and 100% ready to take on the rest of the summer.
Plus, his short haircut means we get to see those adorable, speckled "socks" on his legs in all their glory! 🐾🖤🤍

If there’s one thing Sterling takes just as seriously as his Viking P.A.W.S. training, it’s his nap schedule.

During his training Sterling produces a massive amount of hard work, sharp focus, and mental energy. So when it’s time to recharge his batteries, Sterling doesn’t just rest—he fully commits to the art of the snooze.

Whether he’s:
•Finding the perfect under-the-desk spot at school
•Claiming a beanbag chair as his personal throne
•Sleeping completely backwards/upside down on his dog bed
•Or just soaking up a little sunshine out on the deck
..he proves that any spot can be a cozy spot if you have the right attitude. We should probably add "Professional Lounger" to his official resume before graduation!
