The baseball Hall of Famer and Seattle Mariners legend is working as a photographer at Augusta National this week, continuing to pursue his longtime passion for photography. It’s not a hobby—Griffey has shot major events for MLB, the NFL, and now, one of the most prestigious stages in all of sports.⁠

Home plate umpire Mark Ripperger called just the 2nd-ever PERFECT GAME in the tracking era when he was behind the plate for the April 10 Twins @ Royals game.

Ripperger had 100% accuracy on all called balls and strikes — over 10 percent more accurate than the average ump, per 'Umpire Scorecards,' which has tracked these numbers for umpires since 2015.

The only other perfect game by an umpire was recorded by Pat Hoberg in the 2022 World Series.

Hoberg was most known for being one of the better umpires in baseball before he was recently fired by MLB for violations of gambling rules, being found to have shared a betting account with a friend who bet on baseball.
