If you are interested, head on over to the Tattnall County High School Livestock Pavilion on August 28 and find out all the ins and outs of showing. RSVP by August 24.

πŸ‘πŸ LAMB & GOAT SHOW CLINIC! πŸπŸ‘

Want to sharpen your sheep or goat showmanship skills? Join us for a hands-on, small-group Lamb & Goat Show Clinic on August 28 from 6–8 p.m. at the Tattnall County High School Livestock Pavilion!

Our clinic speaker will be Mr. Tim Griffeth, Agriculture Educator at North Oconee High School, who will share tips and instruction on showmanship, animal care, and feeding.

Who should attend?
This clinic is open to area youth and adults! You do NOT have to own an animal to attend. If you're showing this fall, bring your lamb or goat so you can participate in the hands-on portion of the clinic.

Our Wheeler County 4-H'ers are already making a difference in the new school/4-H year!
After writing and receiving a $2, 500 Senior Hunger Innovation Grant, our 4-H members recently assembled and installed two Tower Gardyns at the local senior center. In just 7 days, the towers are already coming to life with beautiful sprouts, including sunflowers, purple kohlrabi, butterhead lettuce, and more.
But this project is about much more than growing fresh produce. Throughout the growing season, our 4-H'ers will be returning to the senior center to share gardening information, teach quick education lessons, offer produce tastings, and build relationships with our senior citizens.
This project, headed by Jake Henry, our Plant and Soil Science DPA participant, and assisted by Mallory Ortiz, Kaylee Morgan, and Fisher Thornton, is a wonderful example of 4-H youth using their Head, Heart, Hands, and Health to serve their community.
We can't wait to watch these gardens and these connections continue to grow!

Mr. GM Joiner, City of Glenwood Mayor, for his donation towards our trip.
The Glenwood Telephone Company for donating funds for our County Night Out dinner and contributing to the meals that 4-H'ers had to pay for out of pocket.
We are thankful to have support and encouragement from our community and its members.

As we wrap up a successful State 4-H Congress, I can't let the opportunity to brag on these young people pass by. The road to State Congress is long, this particular one beginning in January of 2025. 4-H'ers must submit a portfolio of project work, leadership, community service, and sharing and helping opportunities spanning the calendar year. They must pick a prohect, do the work, write a speech, rewrite that speech after Mrs. Nicole gets ahold of it, make a presentation, compete and place 1st at district project achievement, and practice all summer long. The long hours, practice, and stress really paid off for the Wheeler County 4-H'ers this year.
We are incredibly proud of these kids and are excited to watch them grow in the future!
