Dear Love community,

I am absolutely thrilled to share some wonderful news regarding our school leadership team for the upcoming school year. Please join me in celebrating the appointment of Ms. Sherry Rouse as our new Assistant Principal!

When searching for the right leader to step into this vital role, our priority was finding someone who possesses both the rigorous technical skills necessary to manage school operations and a deep alignment with the spirit of our campus. Following a competitive selection process, it became abundantly clear that Ms. Rouse brings the perfect balance to this position. In addition to her strong grasp of instructional leadership, data-driven decision-making, and administrative systems, she holds deep community roots and invaluable contextual expertise here at Love Elementary. Having spent years building authentic trust on our campus, her profound understanding of our students, staff, and families is a powerful resource that allows her to transition seamlessly into this new capacity.

Ms. Rouse is a passionate, equity-centered educator who believes whole-heartedly in a restorative approach to student support and instructional collaboration. Together, we share a unified, student-centered vision that places the academic, social, and emotional needs of our children at the center of every decision we make.'

Over the summer, Ms. Rouse and I will be working to map out a clear, structured, operational plan for the upcoming school year. Our goal is to ensure a smooth, organized transition so that we hit the ground running in August with stable, supportive systems that serve our entire school community.

Please join us for our final Coffee with Principal Lagdamen tomorrow 5/29 at 8am on the blacktop. We will have hot coffee and pastries. Come to connect with other parents, celebrate achievements from this year, and share your appreciation and well wishes for Principal Lagdamen. The Spirit Store will be open, we will be selling yearbooks for $24 and summer movie tickets from Alameda Theatre for $10.

We're hosting our Ice Cream Social for incoming Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten (K) families today at 2pm. We're so excited to welcome our newest (and youngest) students to Love Elementary. We will be selling yearbooks for $24 and summer movie tickets from Alameda Theatre for $10.

Join us for FUN EVENTS:

1) 5th graders versus Adults kickball game is Tuesday May 26th at 9:35am: All adults members of the Love Community are welcome to play. Wear your tennis shoes and sunscreen. Please sign in at the Office.

2) Ice Cream Social for Incoming TK and Kinder families is on Wednesday, May 27th at 2pm: Fingerprinting will be available. We will be selling yearbooks for $24 and summer movie tickets for $10 from Alameda Cinema! This is a great opportunity for our newest families to meet others.

3) Final Coffee with the Principal is on Friday May 29 at 8am on the blacktop: Another opportunity to purchase a yearbook and summer movie tickets from Alameda Cinema. And it's a great chance to share your appreciation or say good bye to Principal Lagdamen.

Share your feedback on what we should prioritize for Love PTA for the upcoming school year. PTA will use this information, as well as feedback from the May 20th membership meeting, to plan events, programs, and more for the upcoming school year.

Cheer our students as they🥧 Pie-A-Faculty at tomorrow's Community meeting on the blacktop at 8:20am! We raised over $68,000 this year during our Walk-a-thon*, making it our best event yet! In honor of six students' outstanding efforts during the Love Elementary Walk-a-thon, they will pie three brave faculty members at tomorrow's Community meeting. We hope to see families at tomorrow's community meeting to cheer on our brave faculty members, it will be a messy, fun time.

*Shout out to our amazing Vice President of Fundraising, Erin Chan-Adams for her leadership and creativity with this year's Walk-a-thon!
